My wife and I are going to do a road trip around Oregon in September for our anniversary and are looking for suggestions of nice places to stay in the Mount Hood area. We won't be bringing camping gear, so looking for a nice little hotel or B&B in the area with good views and opportunities for hiking and nature.

Can I buy a phone somewhere with a sim card, and at a reasonable price so that people I know may reach me ? I don't need to have lots of time on advanced purchase, that's mostly to receive calls. Can I buy it even if I'm a European visitor ? Where are the best deals ?
We are thinking about moving to Oregon from California. The housing is to expensive in California. I am concerned about the rain in Oregon. Can anyone tell about how it affects their lives. Is the weather that bad? Does it rain every day? What about daytime temps in winter time. National weather sights show 50-60's but I've heard it really is in 30's most of the winter. Is someplace in Oregon, other than Corvallis, better because of less less rain? Any advise you can offer will be greatly appreciated. If you live there or have visited there please advise what life is like there. Is it Great or depressing because of the weather?
