my hubby and i are planning to visit palawan first week of november, but i had a hard time choosing between subterranean river or coron tour package... kindly give me an idea which is much enjoyable financially and 100% satisfying travel... tenx so much...
>> kindly give me an idea which is much enjoyable financially and 100% satisfying travel I think this is subjective, your parameter might be different from mine or the others. I had been to Puerto Princesa and Subterranean River. I really enjoyed PP, but I was disappointed with the subterranean tour. I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me on the latter :) I haven't been to Coron (though I'm going in October), but based on info I have gathered so far, if you're into water activities (swimming, snorkeling or diving) and willing to spend 2 days island hopping, then Coron is for you. On the other hand, PP has beaches and islands (Honda Bay) as well as other attractions. In terms of budget, looks like PP is less costly than Coron.

I've visited the Subterranean River and stayed several days in Coron. For me to give you my opinion, can you give more details on what the "Coron Tour" is? Does this package have an itinerary?

"my hubby and i are planning to visit palawan first week of november, but i had a hard time choosing between subterranean river or coron tour package" I had similar question in my mind and ultimately I finalised Coron, travelling next month.

I've been to both and I suggest that you do Coron and PPrinsesa next time. However, Coron is more expensive - they collect fee on every place you visit.

Subterannean tour is just the underground river and probably some nearby sites. Coron has a lot more to offer - snorkeling/diving, island tour (they have limestone cliffs smilar to El Nido), kayaking, lagoons, hot springs, falls etc.

hi lahoree! package tour is P4,250/head (excluded plane fare).. how about u? i was puzzled why this package price is somehow very affordable, entrance fees are included na...

Sounds reasonable after all tour operator also has to earn profit. Just be clear with him beforehand as to sevices... there might be hidden charges and probable different interpretation at site that should not ruin the mood. I am travelling solo and have booked aircon double room at seadive. However I have reserved share in a boat for island hoping and my total flexible budget (3D/2N)will not increase 5k excluding airfare.

5000 should be sufficient to do 2N/3D tour. I just hope that the entry fees be reduced. I just felt that those fees are ridiculous if one is returning for the 2nd time.

I am warned that entrance fees for foreigners is higher. Anybody knows about that?

Hi Leababes. Thanks for your info. We are going to Coron in October so I'm looking at rates too, to compare and decide whether we'll go "piece meal" or packaged tour (excluding airfare). I noticed that the price quoted to you is for a minimum of 6 pax. I assumed you'll be paying more if you're less, right?

its 100 mostly and 200 in kayangan lake. few are free. i heard they charge higher in calauit but its not worth to go there - transport is long and costly and entrance fee and truck fee - only to see a handful of animals.

With the tour that you posted, I'd agree with others here and say the Coron Package is much more worthwhile. I stayed at the Princess of Coron Austrian Resort and the Seadive. There is no comparison. If you have a choice, choose Princess of Coron. I walked in and investigated the Mt Tapyas Hotel and Jendi Seafront Lodge. The appeared nice enough, but I did not stay there.

Just a comment on that long tour itinerary posted above, I stayed a week in Coron and wasn't able to see all of those. Granted I dived half of the time but there's no way I was able to do all that. Honestly I don't see the point of huffing and puffing from one point to another like a madman. Vacation is suppose to be relaxing no? I'd be asking for my money back if I don't get to swim in the lakes til I'm content or soak in the hot spring until I am ready to peel.

"huffing and puffing from one point to another like a madman". True, this happens almost always when whole trip is booked with a tour operator. I buy individual tours on site only when time does not permit to visit a particular place of my own. You can even shorten your stay at places you dont like much and can stay a little longer at amazing places. Best is doing of your own. At least on vacations I dont want to be slave of my watch, its like still in the office.

The long list is not really long. It was made to appear long for saleability. To some, the list could be mouth-watering.

True Lahoree. Not to mention it is usually cheaper to get the tour once you are already there. Personally, I don't glance at my watch when on holiday except when catching a flight :) Edwin, yeah well travel agencies are notorious for that.

Hi I am pro-coron but you should visit the underground river too as it is really amazing. I also prefer to go on my own but it is costly to do it in coron as you need to rent boats and van to calawit. But if you want more info goto the coron forum in pex. Just google coron sublime beauty.
