Hello,
My husband and I would really like to go swimming with whale sharks! Our family will be vacationing in Coron from April 15-19th of this year. I'm wondering, do the whale sharks come around the Coron Islands?
Looking forward to your reply!
Donsol in South Luzon is the place to spot whale sharks (dec-jan-feb). My friend came back from there recently and went out twice to see them and each time he was swimming just above them. Unfortunately Coron is not renowned for spotting whale sharks but this guy was lucky

I think Donsol in Bicol or northern Cebu Island are the best places to swim with whale sharks.

I agree with davidjo and AsiaBill. Swimming with the whale sharks are best done in Donsol (Bicol Region) and Oslob (Cebu). Whale sharks have not been known to frolic in the seas around/near Coron.

Donsol is the right location to do whale shark spotting.
However, Coron is best for shipwreck snorkeling, fish feeding and island hopping. Do not forget to bring along anti-mosquito spray if you will visit Kayangan Lake.

If you'd like to settle for dolphins instead of whale sharks, I just learned from my facebook friend that there is dolphin watching tour in West Palawan for P1,100/pax. You might just be lucky to see dolphins, said to be usually visible during the months of April-June between 6am - 10:30am. I must say I haven't tried it personally so I can't vouch for the reliability of sightings of dolphins in that area. You can inquire at +63297-9777930 or 048-4342364.
