What is the best way to get there with public transportation (bus or train)?
We're staying at the Imperial hotel near the station.
      Thanks for any help given.

    • How much money to take?

by bumblebee1188 Online Now Apr 30, 2015 at 5:08 AM

I'm going for 3.5 days and will have accommodation already paid for, as well as my copenhagen card which will cover my public transport and most of the things I do. I've heard that eating and drinking is very expensive over there, if I tried to stick to supermarkets and little shops and only ate out once or twice (lunches probably) and stopped for coffee and pastry once or twice, how much would that cost me? Are there any other expenses you are aware of? Perhaps things you highly recommend but are not covered by the card or hidden extra costs with some things?

      TIA!

Hello, we would like to ask about good coffee shops and affordable restaurants and cafes to visit while we are in Copenhagen.. Also we would like to meet local people who would be interested in guiding us on what to see and do while we are there.. We do not have a big budget and I am told it will be expensive in Copenhagen so we are open to any insider information... with gratitude.

Copenhagen airport to Hotel Hebron Helgolandsgade 4, near Central Station by taxi or Train?

by charlesracine Online Now Mar 22, 2015 at 2:23 PM

We arrive at the airport and considering going by taxi or Train to Hotel Hebron Helgolandsgade 4, near Central Station? In June we are arriving in terminal 3 supposedly at 10:25am and have to meet some friends arriving on Delta terminal 2 at 11:05 am then going to the hotel. As we are not at all familiar with the CPH airport, all comments are greatly appreciated. Should we meet at the train departure station or at the taxi rank and what terminal? I understand the taxis are expensive but, are considering the walk for 4 of us with some but, not too much luggage.

My question is for large heavy luggage that cannot be picked up to put on the top luggage rack; Is there a service to check them with a porter. I know they will stick out in the aisle?
Any help on a check luggage service for the train would be helpful. Thank You

My husband and I have never been to Denmark before so we have no idea about what to expect and where to stay. We would like to stay somewhere close the metro/train station so we can use the public transport to sight see. Indre by looks beautiful but I am not sure if it conveniently accessible via train. Also, I would like to take train from the airport to whichever place I stay.

Looking for traditional foods to compare with past that was available 60 years ago & micro brewery

by charlesracine Online Now Feb 16, 2015 at 10:40 AM

I woild like to find traditional Danish foods to compare with the past such as Kringle, Medisterpølse, Pumpernickel bread, Frikadellen and Aebleskiver. Being raised in Racine, Wisconsin, USA which was predominantly Danish 100 years ago, and lived with my Danish grandparents, I want to compare what little we can get in Racine today with what is truely Danish. We can still buy fresh baked Kringle and Medisterpølse (though frozen) and just want to see how close it is to triditional. Please recommend restaurants near the city center. Also looking to find a good micro brewery. All input is greatly appreciated.

      Hi!

I'm going to Copenhagen for 5 days in march, and was just wondering how much money to take with me? I was thinking of taking around £ 500 which is around 4,700 DKK. Would this be enough?

I have already paid for flights and accommodation, so all my money would be for is food, attractions and maybe some shopping (if I have enough! )

Thanks very much for your help!

Which hostel would be most suitable for us? We will appreciate all sugestions and answers. Thank you!

      Hello everyone,

After four months spent in Boston, my girlfriend and I are heading back to France. We are having an eight hour transit in Copenhagen on Tuesday, from 11am to 7pm. We would like to visit the Danish capital as much as possible within this time. Therefore, could you please recommend us places to visit? Also, I've heard the city center is very close to the airport, would you recommend us to take a taxi or the public transportation?

Every tip or advice is more than welcome.

      Thank you very much, Romain

Place to leave the luggage at downtown?

by Turska Online Now Nov 18, 2014 at 3:29 AM

We are arriving to Copenhagen at friday. Our flight back home comes at night at sunday, and person whose apartment we have rented at airbnb said we can keep the bags at there whole day. But the apartment is at Nörrebro and I just thought if there would be a place to leave the bags cheap at central. so we wouldn´t need to go back to get our bags.

Cheap-ish or free parking in the city

by MacedonianUK Online Now Nov 14, 2014 at 5:32 AM

I am going to CPH ah in about two weeks for long weekend.
I decide to drive, so I need place to stay where is cheap or free parking nearby.
I have been looking for hotels and despite €160+ per night their parking is still expensive ( discounted is €27) for a day, which I think is really rip off.
Than I looked at hostels and the night in a 8 bed dorm is €42 with parking of €32 a day. Seems that CHP is very expensive one way or the other.
Any idea of reasonable accommodation with reasonable parking prices?
I don't mind if its not the centar, as long as its on a good bus/tram route to the city I am Ok.
      Any ideas?
      Thank you

Follow-up to previous VT'ers input we are looking for a good quiet hotel near the Central station

by charlesracine Online Now Oct 29, 2014 at 6:19 PM

Following previous VT'ers input we are looking for a good hotel close to the Central station, restaurants and pubs though, quiet and quiet rooms with NO room to room noise. It should be a minimum 3 Star. We had booked the Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers, 4 star and good price (500 DK less per night compared to BW Hotel Bebron) but it wasn't central. We see two Best Westerns; Hotel Hebron, Helgolandsgade 4 & Mercur Hotel, Vester Farimagsgade 17. Any comments on either of these two?
We stayed by the Central Station many years and the location was fine though, the hotel was noisy. We could hear the train noise below us (thru the hotel structure, not from the outside) and we were on the 4th floor. We want to avoid that hotel but, I don't recall the hotel name.. Thanks to all previous VT'ers comments and thanks in advance to all new comments.

      Orange tickets

by ElenaKKKK Online Now Oct 6, 2014 at 11:10 AM

Hi, guys! As I can see, on the site of DSB, orange tickets are twice less expensive than standard ones, but on the day we need, some of trains had been sold out (for the end of November). Does it worth to buy tickets on-line now, so far in advance? And is it too expensive to buy tickets at cashier's desk on station before departure? (I'd prefer pre-reserved seats).
      Thank you in advance, Lena

In Copenhagen where should one stay to be able to walk to see the area and be in a good location? We like to walk and want to be close to good transportation, restaurants/bars and the flavor of the city. We would take a city tour also. We were there years ago and stayed near the central train station and that was fine.

I may also rent a car to visit Horsens and Stouby, Vejlefjord to visit where my Ronsholt ancestors were from. We will be departing for a cruise after our stay.

I red something about Nørrebro being in bad reputation. Is that info true? Or is it old info? I cheked locations of some micro breweries at Copenhagen, and two good ones (if you belive the Finnish beer pages) are at Nørrebro, so it could be good place to find a place so sleep for us who love to visit that kind of places before going to sleep.
Also the apartments at this area were little cheaper (at airbnb) than close to Tivoli area.

I would like to go to Nyhavn, as I heard this is a quite colourful place in the Danish capital. Could you place advise me on how to get there from the harbour using public transportation? One more question: what are some interesting places nearby Nyhavn? Can I visit Amalienborg or Rosenborg? Where would you suggest to go: Amalienborg or Rosenborg, considering I am short of time?
