Is March a good time to visit?

by jdfhale Online Now Sep 8, 2009 at 8:51 PM

HI all, I am planning my honeymoon and the lure of The Cook's is high!
We are getting married at the end of Feb and then will head away. Is late Feb, early March a good time to visit. I heard a rumour that it rains a lot at this time of year....?

Many thanks!
J

Rainy season often has downpours in the afternoon, and can be every day. But these don't last all day. Upside is that everything is lush green and pretty.
But high humidity, sticky nights and mosquitoes are the downside of rainy season.

Thank you for your replies. I had wondered this. My next question would seem rather obvious. Is this the case for all the other Islands in the South Pacific or do some countries there have a better (less extreme/rainy) climate at this time of year.

If they are a similar latitude then they'll be much the same :-)

It even rains during the dry season - and more on the east than on the west coast.

Regarding the climate, I experienced Samoa as much stickier and humid than most other islands I visited on a South Pacific cruise in June. The worst weather (rain and even cool) was on Fiji's main island Viti Levu. And when I watched the weather reports and forecasts afterwards it always seemed to rain there LOL

However, I once holidayed in Fiji in March, and it was not too bad. It rained every day but just for an hour or so, you could still go swimming and sightseeing. You might have days with lots of rain. I would just take some books. Well, and you will have a new wife, so you should find enough things to do.
