Plan to visit Lake Como in April 2008, is it posible to get from Bergamo to Lake Como by public transport. If it is possible any idea of travelling time and price? Thankyou
May I assume that you mean "Como" as opposed to "Lake Como" as the lake is rather a large place? You certainly take the train from Bergamo to the town of Como. Go to www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html and enter "Bergamo" and "Como". When it asks you which station in Como, indicate "Como S. Giovanni" (the other three stations belong to a private rail company that doesn't have a line to Bergamo). You will see that most solutions have a change in Monza, and the trip is usually 1.75 to 2 hours. The cost can vary based on the type of train, but since most of the solutions are using regional trains for both segments, the cost is likely to be 4.95 euro each way. Once you are in Como, I imagine that there are buses and ferries galore to get you around the Lake itself (I haven't been there myself)... Bill
