Thinking of a few days in Charlotte in mid May for my 70th birthday coming from the cold NorthEast. Is the Historic District strongly recommended or are there other areas. Flying in and could rent a car, if advised. We are healthy and youngish and love local charm as opposed to big city lunacy but have never been to Charlotte.
Hi - We are flying into Savannah for 8 nights in mid March. Trying to decide if we should stay in one place in the historic district (near River Street or Forsyth Garden) for the whole time, or split it into 3 nights on Tybee then 5 nights in Savannah - or some other combination. We want to end our stay in Savannah, as we will be there for St. Patrick's Day. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to best use our time? We will have a rental car, and thought we'd explore the coastal areas, and enjoy the local history. Any/all suggestions welcome.
I have never been anywhere very much on Long Island on my many visits to NYC and wondered about taking a day trip out of the city on the LIRR. Can anyone recommend the best line/a destination to head for? We (two mature adults - like walking/photography/eating out - would like to see some of the coastal scenery and maybe spend a couple of hours or more in one of the villages/small towns. I like the look of the Montauk branch but appreciate Montauk itself might be too far. Where is nice to have a meal, a wander round and return all within one day? We would be visiting in mid-April. Thank you. Sam
We are going to the poker run this year. I have seen most of the action is on Duval Street. Does anyone know what
the cross streets are? Where it would be to best to get a hotel at. Any hotel suggestions ? Any other information would
be greatly appreciated . Thank You.
Am planning a vacation in September, Self Drive. Will start off in New York for 3/4 nights then hit the road for Albany, Lake Placid, Finger Lakes, St Lawrence Seaway Drive, Niagara, Buffalo, Erie and back to NY City.
Any tips for the best routes (scenic drives) and must sees very welcome.
Thanks in advance.
We have 3 days to spend on the west coast of Washington before heading north of Seattle for a week. We're looking to rent a vacation home or condo with beach front property. What area isn't overpopulated and has good access. We like a peaceful quiet locale and plan to sit and enjoy the view and if the weather permits in early May, do some exploring along the coast line.
Hi - I see you can only make reservations 4 mths ahead of arrival date. Does anyone know if dates around the 4th July are really hard to get. Should I be poised at my computer, mouse ready at 1 minute past midnight on the relevant day (when the four month window opens)? We are concerned if we miss out it will be late to find anything else and we are already struggling to find alternative tent camping options which one can reserve in advance (beyond Devils Gdn in Arches where we hope to spend a couple of nights). We don't want to risk first-come, first-served at such a busy time of year. Thank you. Sam
We will be at a wedding in Petaluma late February. We are looking to do some birding, hiking,
spend some time in nature in general for 3-4 days. We have been to Muir Woods and Yosemite...
what would be your recommendations ? Maybe spending one night in 3 or 4 different locations
up the coast? TIA
My daughter and I are travelling to Manhatten for 5 nights and I am was wondering what would be the cheapest mode of 'above ground' transportation from JFK to our accommodation in Harlem. We will be using the Metro during our visit, but on the day of our arrival we thought it would be a great idea to see the city on the drive from the airport to our place in Harlem...any suggestions are appreciated! Cheryl
Visiting Sequoia National Park for one day in mid-February. I will be in a rental car. Are there routes into the park via highways without chain restrictions on vehicles? Having a hard time finding information online.
I would like to take a snowshoe tour, but will not be able to put chains on my vehicle.
I'm going to have cancer treatments abroad, thanks to Placidway Medical Tourism. I'm from Mexico, but having the best treatment and the best oncologists is a priority for me. That's to say, I have my trip scheduled on 13th March and I'm going to spend 8 days in NY. I'll have 3 full days for visits and surroundings. So what do you suggest?
Hi, I'm having trouble finding a small camper to pick up in LA early April and then drop off late June. All the vehicles seem to be the larger C size type with high roofs. We had one of these in 2009 when the whole family were here for three months and we traveled 15,000 miles but this time there is just the two of us. We plan to go to New Orleans then up to New York and around that area.
Hi there, i'm traveling to Orange for work and staying at the Doubletree Hilton Hotel in Anaheim until Friday. i have booked a room in Huntington Beach solo Friday night-Sunday AM (will be flying out Sunday from John Wayne) I unfortunately am one year shy of being of age to rent a car and will need to find a economical and semi-easy way of getting to HB from my hotel or somewhere nearby. Any suggestions would help!
Also, how early would you suggest I leave HB on Sunday to make an 11 AM flight out of John Wayne?
