I am to be in colorado springs this friday - Sunday and the weather forecast shows rain/snow for friday--I am from Texas and DO NOT know how to travel in the snow, etc. Question, is this snow the type that is going to be sticking or just flurries? Thanks.
If there's a storm coming, then you may want to take the back way into town via US 287 to US 50 west. Reason being that Raton Pass (I-25 at the NM/CO state line) gets some really bad snow and often closes or, at the least, gets chain restrictions, when a storm comes through. It doesn't look like it's going to be that bad though. CO Springs is only supposed to get down to 31 on Friday and the snow levels are only supposed to be high in the upper elevations. If you're really worried about, pick up a set of tire chains. You may not need them, but you'll always have them in case you ever do.
