I have to be in COS in late June for business, but was thinking about staying a few days extra to see the place (never been there before). I know it is great during winter for winter sports, but any fun things to do in Summer? I love the outdoors and sightseeing and am not much into shopping, to make it easier to post your replies.
The Springs is very outdoor-oriented! For starters, you might enjoy: - drive up or ride the cog railway to the top of Pikes Peak (http://www.cograilway.com/), or if you're a hiker, head up the Barr Trail that starts at Manitou Springs at least to Barr Camp (barrcamp.com/barr_trail.html... - hike, bike, or drive through spectacular rock formations at Garden of the Gods (http://www.gardenofgods.com) - visit the U.S. Olympic Complex, the Numismatic Museum ("money" museum), or the outstanding Pioneer Museum -- they're all listed as "free things to do" on colorado-for-free.com/Colora... - visit the famous Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (http://www.cmzoo.org/) If you're into hiking or rock climbing, the area is loaded with options. Let me know if that's your interest, and I can give you some other websites that specialize in hiking and climbing to look at.

You could consider renting a car and driving to Mesa Verde National Park. It is the only national park dedicated to the works of man and it is wonderful. http://www.nps.gov/meve
