Hi can any of you New Yorkers give me a heads up on the weather right now? I am visiting NY for my holiday 14th March and need to know what to pack. I know it has been snowing but is it settling? Will I need full winter gear :)
Thank you :) xxxc
This one will be tricky one
Last time I was in NY it was 2001. I had the best kosher beef sandwich ever. Now after 13 years I am coming back to Big Apple dreaming about that sandwich. Problem is i dont remember where i had it. All I remember is that the restaurant was by the one of the south eastern avenues moft def south from Times Sq. It was a single story building (or at least I remember it this way) Brown on the outside paint/wood??
Any hints where it might have been?
We´re a Swedish family planning a trip to the States in end of July and beginning of August. We are looking for a relaxed vacation with activies for our kids. They´re 7 and 9 years old. I have a dream where I want to excperience the American small Town Life. Hang out in the local bar. Have breakfast at the diner and maybe Watch a game with the local basball team. Is New Paltz a Place for us to spend a week or two??? Any other suggestions. It has to be a 2 to 4 hour drive from NYC
I am planning a road trip through the US. We planned to start (and end) in NYC, drive down to New Orleans, and continue to explore the southern states. Does anyone know some reliable car rentals we can use. And could you advice me on what motels to use and what average prices are of a motel room?
I am visiting in April and plan to go to 1 or 2 ballgames. I don't want to buy tickets in advance in case the weather is bad but don't want to wait to get them at the stadium either if possible. It appears the Yankee Clubhouse stores sell tickets but I can only find one Mets shop (at 11 42nd St W) that sells Mets tickets. Is there any other locations where I can find them? Thanks.
Myself and my friend(30M) are plannning to visit New york on Thursday night (JFK) from Chicago and stay till Sunday.
Thought of looking good places and may be buy a citypass.com/New York Coupon - good ?
Would need help in getting idea on hotels/area that would be easy to see the attractions
I am a budget travel so any hotel from 100 - 150 works for both for us(total)
I am ok to travel from outside of New York in morning for an hour and then return back if am getting a good deal in hotels
My husband is a heavy user of Converse- shoes, and likes also to find some models not sold in here. I´ve heard there is a huge Converse store in NY and the shoes are cheaper than in here, but with Google I will find 4 addresses. So is there one witch is the biggest?
We are 4 people from Norway visiting New York late this week.
We are looking into special activities to do in New York. Such as zip-lining from skyscraper to skyscraper (no idea if that actually exist) or something like that. For some of us its the first time in NY - we would like to not to the standard tourist stuff. Any suggestions?
The hotel address is 764 4th Avenue. Someone allready told us to take train to Jamaica, Queens from airport, and then take LIRR from there. I don´t find anything named LIRR in my guidebook (updated at 2014, so it´s brand new). Is it a metro or what, and does it go close to our hotel.
Never been in THIS BIG city, and even we have traveled a lot, first time for ages I´m little nervous of getting from airport to hotel. We don´t want to use money to the taxi anyway.
I´ve heard we might need to take our ID to some museums (tell me, if there is any other places?). In London there were some discounts for EU citizens, and in Tower bridge we just needed to show our ID in security check. They did accept drivers license (we both have ones with English text also). Are those accepted in NY, or do we need to take our passports everywhere? Feels unsafe to have them with us all the time.
Do we need ID in trai? (We are viviting Washington).
How about restaurants? We are in 40´s, but we keep hearing when we travel, that "why you Finns look so yung, you look like 20" (I don´t want to look like 20, but if they ask our ID in restaurant, is drivers license o.k.?) Maybe we Finns look younger (I´ve heard it said to many other people too, not to us only!) because we are freezed at winter :D (Exept this year..)
