Colombo to Tincomalee

I am reaching Colombo at 0200 hrs and planning to proceed to Trincomalee by a private van. Is it safe to travel at that early hour, say 0300 hrs or better to wait a little & start a bit late? Can anyone advise on this? Thanks.

    I don't see any safety problems in starting travelling from the airport around 0300. You will not reach the areas (around Habarana) where jumbo may be roaming on the roads until after sunrise.
