Krakow (Poland) to Cluj

by iZm Online Now Jun 25, 2008 at 11:39 AM

Hi there fellow VTs,

I'm visiting Krakow, Poland in August (probably for 3 days, 8, 9 and 10) and from there I'd like to go to Cluj. The problem is that I can't seem to find good, solid info about the possibilities of transportation. So, can any of you help me out as you've done so many times in the past?

Many thanks in advance,

Rui

I doubt you'll find something going directly from Krakow to Cluj.

There is apparently a train (or more exactly, a few coaches added successively to various trains) leaving from Krakow at 11.45PM (not sure if daily) and heading to Romania; it doesn't pass through Cluj, but you could nonetheless take this train, get off after you get into Romania (in a city as near as possible to Cluj) and continue to Cluj with a domestic train or bus.

Or you could travel from Krakow to Budapest (in Hungary; there are several direct trains on this route) and catch from there a bus to Cluj (which are quite frequent).

I believe Cluj is a romanian city. Here are below some links concerned in going from Krakow to Cluj:

    romaniatourism.com/road_map....

    reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/qu...

The train link is from the german Bahn. Bahn is the best railroad in Europe.

From Krakow to Cluj you will go through some countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine?..). So I am sending more roadmaps to you. I don't know which is the best way to you. All roads lead to Rome, but also, Roma locuta, causa finita.
I mean you may choose your own way.

    Hi Zim!!!
Yes there is a nite train from Krakow to Blaj in Romania than you have to change to get to Cluj Napoca. check plannerint.b-rail.be/bin/que... this is the best planner in europe!
BE WARNED!!!! I was on this train (couchette) 3 weeks ago and i was robbed in Slovakia or Hungary!!! The locker wasnt worked. I asume even if it had worked i would be robbed. So be careful, dont leave your stuff unattended! I have learnt my lesson!
