I have been asked to lead a group of families with Children to Chitral. This group is one which does not like long travel, will prefer good lodging and food, comfortable travel.
Now Chitral had been in my list to visit for a long time, and now I need to know some basics:
1/ transport: Is the Lowari tunnel open for business, or one still has to go over the pass.
2/ Safety: What is the situation on ground?
3/ Lodging: Good places to stay in Chitral, and in the Kalash Valley
4/ Places to visit, and July weather condition
If I had been travelling on my own, some of the above questions would not be asked, but have been asked to find out before a final decision is made by this group.
I want to visit Chitral from 13th June to 16th June. Is it ok for weather? I have to travel from Faisalabad via Islamabad, is it safe to travel by my own car?
Can we use other vehicle than land cruiser jeep?
Can we use a car like Ford Ranger 4x4 passing through high passes like Shandur or even Khunjerab pass?
Thanks in advance,
Please let me know the exact date Shandoor Festival(Polo Match)?
Is mid October too cold for trkking around Chitral? The weather seems to be fine this year for the next two weeks but still... Is is ok to camp there if weather permit?
Should I change the treck to Sawat area, then?
Looking forward to your suggestions.
Please list treks from Swat to Chitral
