i have been all over the web trying to find some way to go to tibet/lhasa an also Mt everet base camp,and katmandu i will go eather way starting in katmandu or beijing on train to lhasa. rite now the only way to get to tibet is going in groups of 5+, and all in group is from the same nation.- i am american i would like to due this as least costly as possible, but will still consider all possibilities I herd about a month ago that a Perth aust. travel agency buys blocks of ticket for the beijing to tibet train. i have tried to find this agency, hoping for some help/suggestions to no avail so far- anyone know of this agency? i would consider any group trips that any one would suggest--except a long trip,say 15+ day trip. i just think this type trip could be conpleted in a shorter time i have also tried comtacting lhasa hostels about good suggeation-to no avail. thanks for any suggestions

Check and see about Visa regulations. Unfortunately, there's been a lot of postings and talk about the new visa regulations into Tibet. They require groups of no less than either 5 or 6 people of same nationality under one permit. That is to say, you wouldn't be able to join a group tour from Oz or China or wherever unless it was a group of Americans. The days of simply traveling to Tibet are over...for now. Homer

Word is now Tibet is closed to all foreigners. Some reports have it lasting until the end of July others say September. nytimes.com/2012/06/07/world... news.yahoo.com/china-closes-... tibetoday.com/China-closes-T... They all seem to say the same thing. Unfortunate.
