    • Where to stay on LONG trips to Whistler

      Whistler Apr 27, 2013 at 10:42 AM

Thinking of planning a 1 - 2 month trip to Whistler and was wondering if there are any places to stay long term and what my best options for long term lodging would be.

Was also thinking about splitting up some of that time in Vancouver and am curious about travel to/from Whistler and Vancouver.

      Thanks!!

      Butchart Gardens in a Day

Vancouver Island May 11, 2013 at 6:32 PM

We are planning a RV trip to BC this summer and want to go to Butchart Gardens. We will be taking a ferry from Anacortes, WA and want to make sure we will have enough time to see the gardens with travel time included. We have to small dogs that would be staying behind for the day or perhaps put into a kennel if we need more time. Would it be more economical and better to take our car or take a bus/cab or rent a car on the island? Can we do it in a day? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

    • West canada on a shoe string with a 4 year old?

Vancouver Island May 7, 2013 at 8:20 AM

Hi, my husband, our 4 year old daughter and myself are thinking about a trip to west Canada (from Ireland). We teach so have July and most of August off work. Although we have loads of time, we would be doing it on a shoe string!! Would like to know what people think; should we a) just focus on Vancouver and Vancouver Island (b) focus on the Rockies © try to do both - although I don't think we could afford it all at once!
We really want to get the 'real Canada' outdoorsy feel and would be staying in hostels (hopefully there are child-friendly ones about!!) any advice/opinions on what we should/could do?

"Odd" Trinket Shops and Inexpensive boat rides

      Vancouver May 8, 2013 at 4:45 PM

Can anyone give me some suggestions on these? Any odd shops that have unique pop culture gift items, vintage or modern -not the run of the mill travel souvenirs? Also, any cool boat rides to Vancover Island someone has taken? It doesn't have to be too long, like a cruise- just something about 20 Can dollars or fewer.

    • Grouse Mountain or Cypress - Capilano Bridge or Lynn Canyon

      Vancouver May 18, 2013 at 9:38 AM

We are 2 couples (in our 60s) and will be in Vancouver for 3 nights next week. We plan to rent a car for one day (weather permitting) for some sightseeing outside of where we stay (which is downtown Vancouver). Originally we planned to go to Capilano park and Grouse mountain - both require an entrance fee of roughly $30 each. After some additional reviews, we learn of the Cypress mountain and Lynn Canyon. Not only admission to the latter is free, both sites offer what we were interested in seeing (a suspension bridge and the view of Vancouver). Could we skip Capilano and Grouse to save money?? while we try to save, we do not want to miss anything and would be happy to pay any fees to maximize our trip experience

Is there a Chilliwack nightlife for the over 40 age crowd-this would include singles and/or couples of the baby boomer generation-there's enough of us so there surely must be somewhere to go besides dinner and a movie??? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    • Which is the best campsite at Cultus Lake?

by smilesforfree Online Now Jul 1, 2006 at 9:15 AM

It looks like there are several to choose from including provicincial campsites and a couple privately owned ones: Clear Creek campground Delta Grove campground Entrance Bay campground Maple Bay campground Sunnyside/Vedder campgrounds We are planning on going towards the end of this month and will be bringing young children (6 years old, 3 years old and 1 year old). Not looking to party, just a quiet camping trip. One of our group likes lots of amenities at the campground (really she'd prefer a 4-star hotel, but that just ain't gonna happen). Thanks in advance for your help!

Is this a good place to settle down in?

by Rusirius1 Online Now May 28, 2006 at 4:33 AM

I'm looking for a nice Beautiful place in BC, not too far from Vancouver, that is not too crowded. Does Chilliwack have recreational oppurtunities like hiking in the nearby foothills of the Mountains? Is the air clean and fresh? Is Lake Chilliwack a popular place for swimming and Boating? Is the water clean? Does the town have adequate shopping facilities - like Health Food Stores for a granola head like myself? JC penneys, Sears, Bon Marche, etc? Good Farmer's Markets with Organic Produce? Barnes and Noble Bookstore or something like it? Does Canada have Target? I hate to play 20 questions but I've never been to the "Great White North". I'm looking forward to a trip in the near future. Budget travel, of course. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
