Buses and tours

by anh123 Online Now Oct 18, 2006 at 10:26 AM

Hi, I'm planning to go tot CHile for about 3 weeks in Jan/Feb, alone. I'm a 25 y.o girl (canadian) and I'm wondering how safe it is to travel alone between cities on buses. Also, can anyone recommend some tour companies (day trips - hiking, cycling, etc.) that are inexpensive?? thanks!

I travelled by myself as well within Chile and between Chile and Argentina by bus. They are safe on all the trips, and you shouldn't have much problems other than language problems if you don't know spanish and you want to ask the bus driver how long will they stop at a particular pit stop for coffee, etc.

I traveled a lot in Chile and never had a problem. Just try not to arrive at odd hours of the night to bus stations, only because usually the stations are located not in the best neighborhood in town. Other than that, take the same precautions you would, traveling alone on any place in the world...

Hi we had no problem at all in Chile . We travelled all around on the bus, they were clean and fairly cheap . the bus is easy to use in Santiago for city travel too. You will need a spanish Dictionary though.
