Hi , Can anyone pls update me with the current status of Alishan Forest Railway? i m reaching Taiwan on 30th october, and plan to stay at Chiayi on 3rd Nov, do a day trip to Alishan on 4th Nov.
Hi Alishan Railway wont be up for the next one year - earliest if at all. It was severely damaged. Some Minsus (BnB) are offering tours and homestay from after the 15th of Oct but pickup is arranged by them inx$ and the travel is said to be a bit bumpy. With all this rain falling now all over Taiwan, I would avoid the Mountain region since there is still a good chance for Rock slides. Sun moon lake,Toroko are still not seriously affected so you can visit those places. It would be best to check again a few days before departure on the current situation.
