Hey, How bad is it to visit Chiang Rai weatherwise in the rainy season? Cheers Frederik
The rainy season is always a question of being lucky or not. We were in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai in August 2003 and the weather was simply great. This year in August there were heavy rainfalls in Northern Thailand. I do not know how much Chiang Rai was affected, but Chiang Mai that is not too far away faced several days of heavy rains followed by really bad floods. Take it as it comes, nobody can predict the weather! As Chiang Rai lies in a rather flat area, floods are probably not as heavy as in Chiang Mai, where the water comes down the mountains.
