We are thinking of doing a self-drive holiday in UK - never having been there before, but with limited time I was thinking of the following, obviously with stops along the way for sightseeing.
Day 1 (6.50 am arrival .....) London
Day 2London
Day 3 Drive to Bath
Day 4 Drive to Chester
Day 5 Drive through Wales, back to Chester
Day 6 Drive to York
Day 7 Drive to Nottingham
Day 8 Drive to Warwick
Day 9 Drive to Oxford
Day 10 Drive back to Heathrow (early start day 11)
Is it better to spend the two days in Chester with day trips out or would I be better allocating the time elsewhere? Not much interest in the Lakeland District as we are more interested in the history than the scenery.
Also, my husband will be working and we will need wifi access everywhere. Looking at B&B's, but want wifi, private facilities in all places. Am I too hopeful?
Any help gratefully accepted

Meet is posted at : meetings.virtualtourist.com/... We would love to see you there! If you're attending and will arrive on Friday evening, drop me a line as I will be there then - maybe we could hook up?
I'd like to know the best things for us to see during a short trip to Chester. Are there any must-see National Trust places, museums etc.? Also, if someone could recommend a terrific restaurant in the city itself for dinner, that would also be welcome. Thanks!
We're thinking of a little trip to explore Chester. If you know of a very nice hotel or B&B (preferably not far from the city centre), I'd love a few names. We wouldn't want to spend more than £90 or so a night if possible. Thanks in advance.

I'm fed up with the ridiculous cost of hotels in the UK which are generally a complete rip-off and are geared to catering for business types. Excuse me for ranting! Any help would be very much appreciated.

Greetings fellow travellers. There are 12 adults all planing to meet for a weekend in Chester. We are a varied bunch, so specific places are out. (I'm a rock fan, but if we went to a rock pub, 11 of our group would be unhappy). We are there Friday & Saturday in late April. Where should we drink? and where should we avoid? Accomodation is sorted in the CH2 area and we'll be walking.(or staggering if you catch me driff)

Hello I am planning to go on a narrowboat cruise that departs from Chester and goes to Llangollen.. with the Dawn and Dusk ... I am looking forward to join them since I cannot walk large distances and I love to go on a boat . I will bring my scootie (a foldable little scootmobile) The advise is to travel from Amsterdam to Manchester Int Airport.. I would like to know how much the cab fair would be from the Airport to a nice Hotel in the City Center or even better is there a hotel with shuttle service.. Furthermore I will have to back to Machester Int. Airport from Llangollen. Should I go by train to Chester and take a cab from there or does anyone have a better option Thanks in advance Louise
Hi, I just learned that the coach station in Chester will be closed this year. Does anybody know where the National Express Coaches will stop then? I'll have to walk to the train station from the coach stop. Does anybody how far this will be? Is is a safe area to walk in late at night or is it better to take a taxi - provided there will be taxis at the new station. Thank you for your help. Christine
I will be residing in Chester for 4 months beginning in September of this year. Is there public bus transportation in Chester? Is there a bus that makes a stop at The Carden Park Hotel and Resort?
