      Bangladeshi Passport. Ukraine Transit.

      Kiev Apr 17, 2014 at 3:25 AM

Hi I am a Bangladeshi Passport holder, resident in United Kingdom with long term work permit. I will be travelling from Istanbul to London via Kiev on 21 April 2014. I had a 2 hour stop-over which has now become 9 Hours in Boryspil International Airport due a to a flight change by UIA. From 11 AM to 8 PM. I would not like to sit in the airport for that long rather go out and see the beautiful city.
      Q. What are the chances of me getting a Transit visa at the airport for the day upon arrival? What would be the procedure?
Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

9 hours in Kiev. Safe to travel?

      Kiev Apr 2, 2014 at 5:09 PM

Me and my wife are traveling from London to Istanbul via Kiev with UIA on 18th April and returning on 21st April 2014. We booked the trip before any protests started in Kiev.
Now, due to a change in flights by the airlines, we have a 9 hour stop over in Kiev on our way back. Is it now safe to spend a few hours sightseeing in Kiev? If yes, what can we do / see in few hours?

      Ukraine Mar 30, 2014 at 4:28 PM

      Hello,

I am from the UK and I have a girlfriend in Simferopol. After waiting for many months, I finally have an opportunity to go and visit her but then there is the trouble there!

She assures me she sees Westerners in the street: cafes, restaurants, etc., that they are without fear and that there is no aggression towards them. She insists it is safe for me to go there but she could be optimitstic as she wants to see me.

I need advice from people from English speaking countries who have been there recently. Have they had any trouble? Do they agree it is safe? Will I have an advantage being 'protected' by a local?

I would go there in the middle of April '14. i would need to travel via Moscow. What would be the visa situation now? I do not need a visa for Ukraine.

I also know I can get a bus or train to Lvov, and then to Chernivtsi. But does anyone know if there is a bus which goes direct to Chernivtsi? Or maybe a taxi when I cross the Ukrainian border.

Any suggestions for the very best travel from either location would be appreciated. Closest airports with a reasonable driving distance, am happy to rent a car, just a 9 hour drive would be difficult.

    • Car Rental in Chernivtsi

by LS18 Online Now Apr 27, 2009 at 11:33 AM

Thanks for previous advice on getting from Chernivtsi to Lviv by bus and train. I've now decided that I'd like to visit Kamyanets on route and given that I have limited time, think car rental is the best option. (I understand roads and traffic arent great but I've driven in Asia, Africa, South America etc so know what to expect)

My problem is finding a car rental company that will allow one way rental--pick up Chernivtsi and drop off Lviv. I did find one company who agreed to do it but I think they changed their mind-they've stopped answering my emails!

Where can I get details of car rental companies in Chernivtsi or maybe a travel agent who can help arrange this?

by LS18 Online Now Apr 8, 2009 at 10:07 AM

I'll be travelling from Chisinau to Lviv in June and have just found that the bus takes 20 hours. I've looked on the map and Chernivtsi looks a good place to stop off. If so, I'd then like to know what the options are to travel onto Lviv. I'd consider car rental if anyone knows of a company that does one way rental. Other than that what are the train and bus options?

      Thanks

We have just had a great time travelling in the Ukraine and found a great apartment on the Virtual Tourist website. We stayed mostly in Chernivtsi and found a great apartment with an English speaking owner who gave us a local map, a tour of the city and information about all of the most interesting places to visit. The people are amazing - so welcoming and generous. So if you like us want to go somewhere completey different - go to Chernivtsi and see the beautiful Carpathian Mountains, taste fantastic organic food and experience a slower and more natural daily life. Visit WWW.tastukraine.com if you want information about the apartment we stayed in.
