ONLY in Daying, Suining, Sichuan: Titanic Replica Attraction....Can anyone see this great project is being built? hAS IT STARTED TO BE BUILT YET!? Thanks a lot!
Has anyone been to this bridge? I was there a few years back and after going through the tunnel and over the bridge and out the other side, you reach a plateau you can stand/sit on and have a break. If you look out over the way in THAT direction (can't recall which way it was, just new it was directly opposite from the bridge) you can see a rock formation in the shape of either a Canadian Inukshuk or a Chinese Gate. Does anyone have any info on what this is or who built it or when? It was there in 2009, my first trip, and I think it's still there, according to some shots I've seen on the web.
Can anyone point me to a bar/pub/restaurant that might air UFC fights in Guangzhou? As a surprise and belated xmas gift to my husband, I want to take him somewhere he can see Weidman vs. Silva fight. It airs at 10pm Dec 28th Eastern Time in the US, which I'm assuming is 11am in Guangzhou.

We can go either on the 19th dec or 20th dec.
We are looking for anyone who wants to join us to share the costs. If you are interested do not hesitate to contact me.
The cost is around 600 rmb for the day.
Subject to contract finalisation I will be moving to ZJG in Jan 2014 and will start looking for an apartment to rent. Can anyone currently living in ZJG give me an idea of which area(s) are best to live in? I'm looking for about 120sqm to 140sqm, preferably modern interior and quiet.
I am planning to visit Kunming from Bangkok. The places I want to visit are - Dongchuan Red Land, World Horti-Expo Garden, Jiuxiang Scenic Area, Jiuxiang Scenic Area and may be Taihe Palace(not sure about this one).
So, can you please suggest me that what would be best to visit and if 4 days is sufficient to visit? And, may be help me with an sample itinerary?
Thanks a lot!
P.S - one more question. Daguan Pavilion is same as Dongchuan Red Land? If not same then I want to include is too.
I am going to China for the first time next March. I plan to cover the usual spots like Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’An then see some more mote places like either Sichuan or the Guilin area.I like to travel by train as it is a relax way to see a country. What are trains like in China? Do they cover these areas ? How do I buy tickets before going there? I obviously speak no Chinese at all.
Hi Im Aizul from Malaysia and coming to Beijing this 30 December 2013, My flight arrival in Beijing Capital Airport around 1.30am on 31 December 2013... So how the best way to I take the transportation from the airport to the hotel?? Need your advise about that... Thanks :)
I am looking at a cruise which includes a 3 night stop at Tianjin port. My problem is we visited Beijing in 2011 for 5 days and took tour to the major attractions.
We do not want to take the tours offered by the cruise as they cover what we have already seen. We are confident in sightseeing Beijing by ourselves.
Is the rail station close to the cruise port?
How many connecting trains to reach Beijing central district?
How long would it take by train and is the service regular?
What distance (km) and is it possible by taxi, or traffic too bad? Approx cost?
Is there much to see in Tianjin. 2 full days in port might be a waste and it may be best to select another cruise.
Appreciate all advice
I am an American currently live in Kunming, China for four years now (for a total of 13 years in China). So, far it is the BEST city in the world for me to live in and I hope/expect to live here forever. However, if for some reason I can't stay here at some point (e.g. China won't issue me another visa), I want to have a backup city for me to move to. And I want to KNOW what my backup city is in advance.
I have several criteria for my backup city (to try to match Kunming or better):
1) Good weather year around (Kunming almost always gets up to 15 degrees (Celsius) each day in the winter and rarely goes above 30 degrees in the summer)
2) Great prices compared to USA (it would cost me six times more to live in the USA given my current level of living here in Kunming: I have a 2700 square foot luxury apartment for $500 USD per month; my personal assistant works for me for less than $3 per hour, etc.)
3) I would like to live in a city of 1,000,000 or more, although I might accept as low at 500,000.
4) The residents of this city should have a friendly attitude towards Americans.
These are my basic requirements. Do you know of any cities in your travels that might fit?
With much appreciation...
Dear VTers, I recently recommended Alvin of Beijing to be the tour guide of my best friend who will be traveling to Beijing with ther family some time December. Unfortunately, due to the terror attack in Tiananmen last October, Alvin was critically hurt and cannot assist my friend. I am asking my fellow VTers for 2 things:
1. For those who believe in prayers, pls pray for Alvin's speedy recovery. He broke ribs and pelvis. He cannot breathe well and is currently confined at Beijing Orthopedic Hospital. Will not post pictures here so as not to offend others who may find his hurt pictures a bit delicate to look at.
2. Need your recommendation for another reliable tour guide who can provide van+driver only. My friend does not need tour packages at this point, just a van+driver. Please help. Please send contact details, too.
Thanks in advance.
