Hi, all you lovely people :)
Could you be so kind as to share your expertise with a first-timer to Myanmar ?
My rough itinerary is basically get in, Yangon, Kalaw, Lake Inle, Bagan and get out. With some cycling, and a river cruise thrown in for good measure.
Obviously I want to support local people, so transport are limited to privately operated trains, planes and ferries. Accommodation in temples or similar private arrangements would be great.
And lastly, wikipedia has limited information about Myanmar food. From what I've read so far is that there is a good reason the food isn't known well, and that is that it is not worth knowing about at all. Suck that, I want to eat nothing but Myanmar food during those 8 days, so any recommendations are welcome. I love biriyani :)
How does this look ?
Day 1 Arrive Yangon 6pm, night bus to Kawal
Day 2 cycle Kawal to Inle Lake, O/N -with a reputable company ?
Day 3 Inle lake, O/N
Day 4 Morning Bus to Bagan,
O/N
Day 5 Bagan, O/N
Day 6 AM Ferry to Mandalay, O/N
Day 7 AM train Mandalay to Yangon, O/N
Day 8 AM Yangon, then depart 5PM
Don't be afraid to tell me this is crazy, thank you.
Lester
