Traveling to Chanthaburi and Koh Samet

I am planning on traveling with my daughter to Chanthaburi and then up to Koh Samet (weather permitting) Feb 12-17th. Anyone else headed that way? We are from the US and would be thankful for any advice and or fellow travelers.
