Chamonix - Where to stay and how much time for cable cars?

We have a day to stop over in Chamonix, France and wanted to know if anyone knew of a particularly nice place to stay there? Since we only have time for a single day stopover, anyone know how long it takes to ride the cable cars up mont blanc?

There are no cable cars up Mont Blanc. There is one up the Aiguille du Midi which is probably what you are thinking of. I think if you take the time to read any of the Chamonix pages on the VT site, this will answer your questions since that is the top tourist site in the entire town and everyone has made a tip about it. :-)
