Is it possible to go from Chamonix to Hellbronner Point during spring, between May 18 to 22, 2007, or are most of the lifts closed and only opening in June? I'll be in the area but I don't know if the gondola is open at that time. I've always wanted to do this, so this would be a great opportunity.
Normally the Aiguille du Midi is open (but it does close for 1 week each spring for maintenance, just not sure which week), but the Helbronner does not open until May 26 this year (depending on weather even that can be delayed). In low season, one lift is always open if the Aiguille du Midi is closed, then the Brevent lift (across the valley with a good view o the whole Mt Blanc massif) is open. compagniedumontblanc.fr/page... or ask questions on the tourst office site http://www.chamonix.com to find out for sure.
