Hi. I am debating between these two hotels. Le Labrador is a 3 star and Des Lacs a 2 star and there is a difference in price of 30 Euros per night. Does anybody know which is in a better location and which is a better value for money? Thanks, Jubin
Hôtel Le Labrador is located in Les Praz, just outside Chamonix,direction NE, about 3,5 km from the center of Chamonix, while Hôtel des Lacs is located SW at 2 km from the center. Not really a problem for hikers, but still.. I'd stay closer in town for the après ski or après-hike activities. Hôtel Le Labrador is not far from the cable car to La Flégère and l'Index. Fine for skiers in Winter and also perfect for hiking in Summer. Only, it's a quite dead area down in the valley, while Chamonix town is lively. Also in Chamonix center you'll have a much larger choise between more cable cars and gondolas. Oh yes... also this: train and bus are free for guests who stay in Chamonix.
