I am planning to fly to Jogja in the first week of June to visit Borobudur and Prambanan. I hope to be able to stay at the Princess Manohara Hotel (if room is available) and wonder if this is a good time of the year to visit both UNESCO World Heritage sites, re: weather wise and people wise (how busy it gets at this time of year)? Appreciate any relevant advice.

Is it ok to visit Borobudur during Vesak? Will it be really crowded or better to wait for another time?

hi! im going to go to semarang from yogyakarta. but as i know there is no available course anymore. i should arrive in semarang before 11 am. do you think it is possible by morning train or bus? and how can i get there???

Hi, do you have the latest train schedules from Yogya to Solo and Solo to Yogya? Should we stop at Purwosari or Balapan Station if i would like to go to Slamet Riyadi? Any idea what is the train cost? Appreciate your advice.

Hello, I have heard about a direct mini-bus from Solo to Cemoro Lawang. Does it sound possible ? Is there a way to get more information about it ? I found a cheap flight from Yogyakarta to Surubaya : can it be a good alternative ? Otherwise, would you know if the Solo area (including Candi Sukuh) can be visited as a day trip from Yogyakarta ?

Dear fellow VT friend, I am planning a trip to Solo - Yogya for 5d4n, my flight is to Solo (return) and would like some idea how to plan the trip... I am planning to go to Borobudur, Prambanan, Mount Agung, Dieng Plateau but other than that I am abit clueless on other places of interest... Would welcome any suggestion on the logistic, transport and accomodations? Dears, I need advice please. The above trip is planned this Mar 23-25. We, a group of 6 pax, light budget travelers, will have Semarang as our basecamp. We'll skip major cities and planned an off-beaten path with rented car. Please have a look and kindly advice following questions; we are passionate eaters/culinary and also photographers (so would be helpful if you can advise shooting spots :) DAY 1 (Mar 23) : Semarang - Ambarawa : visit the steam loco museum Ambarawa - stop by Losari Then off to Tawamangu - spend the night. QUESTION: + do we have to prebook the steam loco ride ? and we heard we have to book the whole cabin ? is that true + Losari plantation is overly expensive so we will spend time to eat/coffee break. + any suggestion where to stay in Tawamangu ? DAY 2 (Mar 24) Tawamangu - to Candi Sukuh + Cetho Then off to spend nite at Salatiga QUESTION + If we stayed in Tawamangu, how long is it by car to Candi complex ? Will half day sufficient to spend our time in both candi's ? + Any suggestion where to stay in Salatiga ? + Any other suggestion what to see during this DAY 2 ? DAY 3 (Mar 25) we go to Kopeng direction and see Treetop outbound (?) end the day to Semarang and go back to Jakarta QUESTION: + there is limitd information about Kopeng (any recommended things to do/try asidethe outbound activities) Thanking you all, cheers:)

On our trip through Java we would like to see the Ambarawa livestock market. According our information this market takes place on 'pon' days. According to my information 24 July is such a 'pon' day. Is that correct? And will the traditional livestock market take place on 24 July in Ambarawa? I guess this is a 'morning' event (which time more precisely?). Thanks in advance for an answer! Wim

We are in the process of preparing our July/August visit to Java. One of our questions is: is the next programme/route feasable to be carried out in one day? After breakfast in Borobudur (no sunrise event, Borobudur temple complex being done in the day before) via Kepit and Wonosobo to Dieng plateau, visit Dieng plateau, then via Lake Telaga (short visit) - Kertek - Parakan - Temanggung - Kaloran - Bandungan/Salatiga; sleep in Salatiga or Bandungan or Ambarawa. The trip would be carried out with a car + driver. Many thanks in advance for a motivated reply!

hi.. is there anyone can tell me how can i do a day trip to puncak?.. i might go to bogor from jakarta by train, but when i reach bogor do i have to rent a car with a driver(both of us are foreigner)or we can just go around by the local transportation?.. i'm looking for any Bogor travel agent to arrange a trip and transportation too but so far i still couldn't find any.. will arrive in jakarta on this 20th nov, and planning to go to bogot-puncak on 21st. Hi, As everyone knows, Mt Merapi is erupting. Air Asia even cancel flights to Solo and Jogya today. I will arrive 12 Nov at Solo and back 17 Nov from Jogya. If situation fine, is there any tourism activity allowed? Is Solo and Jogya situation very bad now? and hotels close these days? How about Gedong Sango and Dieng, are they impacted by the volcano ashes? Please help to descript the condition/situation. your advices are truely appreciated!!! Thanks

Hi, I will arrived in Solo around 9am. Plan to visit Candi Ceto, Sukuh and Mangkunegaran by rented bike. Possible? After that, is there any transport from Solo to Gedong Songo? 2nd day, finish visit Gedong Songo, then depart to Dieng Plateau. After Dieng Plateau, then goto Jogya to check in hotel. Any transport from Dieng Plateau to Gedong Songo? The rest of the days will go around Jogya such as Prambanan and Borobudur. Urgently need advices from all. Please!!! Thanks!!! Regards, Marcus

Hi, I have just booked my flight to yogyakarta next week and is frantically looking for a hotel near Borobudur as most of them are already fully booked due to Vesak Day. An exception is Lotus Guesthouse, which i called up and the person in-charge said that they should have a room available for me on vesak day, but I just need to call back to confirm it a day before... My questions are: Is this the 'right' way of making a hotel reservation? with no formal reservations etc what if they don't have a room when i arrive? And can anyone enlighten me on the distance it is from Borobudur? Is it at walking distance? Thanks so much and hope to get some feedback from you kind souls pretty soon... :_)

I'm planning to visit Borobudur temple over the Wesak weekend 8-11 May 2009 flying in from Jogjakarta. Can you recommend some hotels which also arrange for airport transfers ? I've checked Manohara Hotel but they are fully booked for that period.
