Hello. I will be visiting Cozumel within the next few months and want to have the right products to keep my curls tamed. When I visited Puerto Rico years back I remember the hair product I used, and that work fine here in Nebraska, felt sticky when used in the different climate. So I was wondering if there was any curly haired people out there that knew a good curl cream/hairspray (anything) that actually helped keep their curls tamed while in Cozumel and didn't get sticky?
I want to visit La Antiqua and Zempoala on March 13th and renting a car seems to be the best way to get there. I arrive at 21:15 on March 12 and the only rental cars seem to be at the airport. Is it safe to pick up a rental car at the airport that night and drive to the Zocalo where my hotel is?
have never been down there, and this may be a silly question (based on my research, it may well be). can I find a 2 BR villa or casita along Tulum beach for under $2000/wk (inclusive of tax) at low season? we are going in late June or July. ideally not right up at the ruins area....further south...but not as far as SIan Kaan. any help is appreciated.
have tried all the usual spots...here, T/A, VRBO, airBNB, etc. would prefer not to be on a compound of bunglaows, but that is a possibility I guess. not a house subdivided into condos either. don't need internet. don't need AC.
we are looking up Soliman way too just to be clear (more single family units there I see). Just prefer Tulum due to a bit more wave action (for my 10 YO son). and proximity to the pueblo (for my wife).
any secrets you can share???? cheers!
When I crossed INTO Mexico using Bridge 2, I was not able to find the Immigration Office and, while I DID HAVE my car permit and insurance etc (which I got on line and by courier), I did not get a tourist card or a stamp in my passport before ending up on the toll road and well into Mexico. I have been in Mexico for two months and now need to get home.
I am travelling back that same way INTO Texas via Nuevo Laredo Bridge 2 and need instructions on how to find the place where a) I give back my car sticker, and b) where I tell them my sad tale of woe about not having a tourist card. Can anyone give me clear and concise instructions, PLEASE.
Is this one and the same place for car and immigration?
What sort of "fine" should I expect to have to pay to get through the immigration?
Is it safe to walk along the beach From Hotel Coral & Turquesa into town (puerto morelos)? I have read that it is about a 45 minute walk, I assume that it's safe along the resort areas but on google earth it looks like there is a good stretch along undeveloped areas.
Good Evening Everyone,
I'm looking to book a vacation for sometime in May of this year. I've done a ton of research and read a lot of reviews but I'm having a tough time siding with a resort. I'm traveling alone and I'm looking for a place I can go to have a good time that includes it being all inclusive and adult only.
I've looked at the Grand Oasis Viva, Temptations, and Golden Parnassus but I'm open to suggestions as well. My logic so far (based on reviews read):
Temptations - A bit pushy when it comes to check-in due to the reason of the resort trying to sell time shares.
Golden Parnassus - Has the tendency to over book guests and then push them over to the their sister resort loaded with children.
Grand Oasis Viva - Currently undergoing construction in some areas.
I know each review is just a point of view, I've traveled enough to make the best of any vacation but I wanted answers from those in the field. Any information, advice, or suggestions is very appreciated!
this discussion began in the travel forum from TomS148, who wanted a comparison of two hotels in puerto vallarta, mexico -- the playa los arcos hotel and suites beach hotel versus the plaza pelicanos club beach resort. currently this Q&A sequence is at Playa Los Arcos OR Plaza Pelicanos Club - Puerto Vallarta Travel Forum. my response to his Q is the fifth one.
as you will see if you read my response, the VT site/map for a search for "plaza pelicanos club beach resort" brought up a listing for "plaza pelicanos grand beach resort" (i could not find a listing for "plaza pelicanos club beach resort" on VT) and listed the address for the "plaza pelicanos grand beach resort" as calle diego rivera #120, a location about nine or ten blocks east of the beach on the south side. however, that listing also states that the hotel is in the "las glorias" neighborhood, which is on the beach about 10-20 blocks north of downtown. obviously this hotel cannot be both on calle diego rivera and in the "las glorias" neighborhood.
the expedia and travelocity sites both show the "plaza pelicones club beach resort" as located at calle jose clemente orozco #121, which is in the "las glorias" neighborhood, north of town, and also on the beach. therefore my final conclusion was that the VT map associated with the "plaza pelicones resort" -- whether "beach" or "club" -- was incorrect, showing as it does a street address that is in a neighborhood that does not include that street. i summarized all of this info in my response to tom's original inquiry.
then i posted a new Q (entitled "VT maps, puerto vallarta, mexico") in the travel, technical help, miscellaneous, and MAG forums asking VT staff to take a look at the confusing and inaccurate results i got from VT when answering tom's original Q. the originals of that new Q have evidently been deleted from all but the miscellaneous forum, maybe so that VT staff could try to untangle this mess. i haven't received anything from VT telling me what happened to that new inquiry, so i just don't know what to think.
to be on the safe side, i think i will post this Q in all three of the remaining forums, and we'll see what stays and what disappears. i have no objections to duplicate Qs being deleted or placed in a more appropriate forum, but i'm perplexed as to what happened in this case, and evidently so are several other people. i know this all sounds horribly tangled, but i hope everyone can follow what i've tried to explain. (by the way, i still haven't gotten a VT staff response to my original "VT maps, puerto vallarta, mexico" inquiry!)
at any rate, i will post this Q (entitled "puerto vallarta maps on VT, Q evidently deleted earlier (?)" in each of the forums and see what happens.
thanks for your patience, everyone.

Hi! I'm deciding to book for next week between Playa Los Arcos Hotel Beach & Spa and Plaza Pelicanos Club Beach Resort. Both all inclusive and around the same price. Which one would you recommend, have anyone of you gone to both. I read many reviews and I can't seem to decide :( Thank you very much and I can't wait to visit Mexico and Puerto Vallarta for the first time :):):)
We are having a hard time finding transportation very early in the morning from San Cristobal to the Tuxtla airport. The same thing late in the evening getting to San Cristobal. Anyone have any experience with this? Seems like everything shuts down early and late. I have heard there are cabs, but how expensive would an hour ride and how dangerous in the wee hours?
Does anyone know if Hidden Worlds Cenote Park in Playa del Carmen will be open the 1st week of April?
The website says they are closed for construction. I sent an email, but haven't gotten a response. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
We will be staying in Puerto Morelos for 4 days in late July. One of those days we want to do an excursion. There are 4 of us traveling ages 32 - 44. We are into history and adventure. We want to do something that is fun and we will learn something. What do you have for us????? Links or travel reviews would be appreciated.
Our family will be visiting the Playa del Carmen area during the first week of April. I'd love to hear thoughts on what people consider some must-see attractions. We like being active. Our kids are 12 & 14. Thanks!
