Microtel Hotel

I will be arriving in Mactan Island and am looking for something that is nice for my family and myself and the Microtel was recommended. Most reviews I have seen are very complimentary. I really just want to use the pool, go to the beach, and relax in a clean, safe environment and the Microtel seems good for that. Anyone have experience with them? Also, I have heard that you can bypass the waiting cabs at Mactan and grab a taxi that has dropped off passengers. Those drivers apparently will use their meters while the waiting one's won't. In closing if I use a waiting cab and go to Microtel from the airport, what might the fee be? Thanks.
