What to do, where to go

by jomaxwell Online Now Nov 14, 2010 at 8:12 AM

My partner and I are off to Cayo Coco on the 5 dec, we are only going for a week unfortunately, but wanting to find some good things to do with our time and not really finding a lot through the internet, so hoping some people with experience will help us out! We really want to go to Havana but found out its an overnight stay, or is there a other way of getting there? Are there any good sugar cane trips or cigar factory trips, or anything fun also

Cayo Coco is part of a chain of islands off the north-central part of the island and has a number of resorts on it. It's been a few years since we were there - the airport opened just after our stay there, as we used the one in Ciego de Ávila. The mainland area was quite agricultural, and I don't remember seeing a lot of sugar cane (if any). The Cuban government, when designing this area made sure that contacts with locals were minimized. When we stayed, there were no excursions offered and really not much to see. Havana is quite the distance away, so it is not surprising that you would be looking at an overnight trip.

Hola There are many organized trips Trip to *** or Ciego de Avila. Catamarran excursion, the jungle tour and a jeep tour. Years ago there was a trip to a local farm and old sugar cane factory. There will be orientation when you arrive and lists of possible excursions. Mardi
