      Hello,

I understand that the first Sunday of the month some museums are with free entrance. Is the Vatican musuem included? If not, can you propose one or two of those that are free?

I´ve been planning to have it, is it worth the money ? I want to see Appia Antica and of course all the basic spots Colosseum etc.. Is it wise to buy it in advance (ticketitaly in offering a printed voucher) ? Do I have to change it to a real ticket at every site or do I get a card from the first one I´m visiting ?

    • Train or car to Florence from Civitavecchia

      Civitavecchia Aug 16, 2015 at 6:32 PM

We are planning on using a car service to get us to Florence after our cruise docks. ( 3 couples + luggage) the thought behind taking a car over train was to 'see the countryside'. Just wondering if we are crazy to do a car over a train? Train would be faster and less expensive.

      Rome Aug 6, 2015 at 2:19 PM

I am returning to Rome for the first time since 1985. I recall some of the restaurants we enjoyed in past years and am wondering if they are still as good as in the past. We used to enjoy, Tre Scalini, Cesarina, Girarosto Toscano, San Souci among others. Other restaurant recommendations in that area would also be welcome.

Does anyone know the best and least expensive way to get from Termini Station to Barceló Aran Park? 4 travellers with suitcases. We have a tour starting at this hotel in early October and arrive from Sorrento around noon time. If the option is a taxi, how much would be the approximate cost.

      Hi, how are you doing?

Living in a city that has a very nice subway and bus network (Lisbon) I am finding it rather tricky to understand how should be the best way to get to our appartment from the Termini train station.

Our appartment is at Via Monterone.

Can you please help me understanding the best way?
      Thanks, cheers!

      Eating in Rome

      Rome Aug 1, 2015 at 1:03 AM

      Hello!

Well, this may seem an unusual question, but... How do locals eat in Rome?
We are a couple traveling, and we would like to understand if it's usual to ask for 2 different main courses and share, and some starters, or if it's not a common habit.
In Portugal we are used to share some starters, then each one us have a separate main course (meat or fish), being unusual to ask for a second dish, finishing just with a desert.

How is it in Rome? Of course one can do as it pleases you and try from the others plate, but I would like to understand the "rules" :)

      Thanks!

    • Where to find a guide for Monte Cassino

by SueHansen Online Now Mar 8, 2015 at 9:49 PM

We are a family of 8 (aged 20 - 84 yrs) travelling to Rome in June this year. We plan to hire a minivan and driver to take us to Piana delle Orme Historical Museum near the town of Latina and then on to Monte Cassino. Are their guided tours at the Abbey? Or are there local guides available for a couple of hours? I did email one lady guide who quoted us 300 Euro for a couple of hours!! I'm sure that we can do better than that.
      Your help would be appreciated.
      Thanks
      Sue N.Z.

by tonylincoln Online Now Jan 3, 2013 at 2:45 AM

      Hi
I am interested in the Battles of Cassino and my wife is a painter in watercolours and acrylics.
I wondered if we could find the perfect holiday in the Cassino area where my wife could pursue her painting, ideally with tuition; and I could explore the area from the military perspective whilst she was painting.
      Any advice please?
      Thanks
      Tony

by bettysayshello Online Now Mar 25, 2010 at 5:29 PM

My father in law is originally from Casino and we are hoping to travel as
a family of at least 5 or 6 back to his place of birth in September, we will
be hiring a car in rome and driving to Cassino but would love to either rent
a house or self catering accomodation on a ground floor level hopefully as
papa is now 91 years old and not 2 keen on stairs. Any tips on rental properties rather than hotels the more central in Casino the better.
look forward to hearing any replies
