Anyone have info about catching a ride on a cargo ship from Panama to Cartagena? Muchas gracias!
Cargo ships are not the most used choice ... and they don't leave from Portobello, they do it from Colon (the Canal's Caribbean exit). What everybody's doing is taking a sail boat to Cartagena, it costs some USD 275 and it takes 4 to 5 days. It sails around San Blas for a couple of days and then it goes straight to Cartagena. I took a plane to Puerto Obaldia (southern Panama), and from there you take small speed boats to get to Colombia. It's like USD 100 cheaper ... you can check my tips for more info.

Thanks for the info. I know about the sailboats, which would be way cool. Just trying to save some coin and do something not too many others have done.
