Is it easy to find accomadation as a backpacker?

A friend of mine and I are going to Cape Verde for three weeks in nov-des 05, and we wonder how it is to get cheap accomandation on the islands: Sal, Boa Vista, Sao Vichent, Santiago and Sao Antao? Because our travel agentcy are trying to sell us accomandation, and it seems as if the prices are quite high, 50-100 euro for a hotelroom, one night. Is it prices like this we should expect, or should we wait till we are down there?
