Suggestions for a scenic drive to Canterbury

by lled Online Now Apr 20, 2007 at 3:23 AM

Hello

I will be visiting Canterbury shortly and will be arriving at Dover around 11:00. As I am staying around Canterbury I wanted to know if there was a nice scenic drive from Dover to Canterbury which may take 2-3 hours perhaps taking in some of the coast. I don't mind going out of my way if there are any nice little towns to see. I will be driving on a Sunday and would also like to stop off at a little pub for a traditional lunch if anyone can suggest a children friendly place.

Thank you for help.

Dave

The answer has to be yes, but Canterbury and Dover aren't that far apart and depending on your interests a route could easily be worked out.

If you like historic places, then there is a nice route that takes in a few castles ranging from the Roman fort at Richborough to the Tudor forts at Walmer and Deal….

Some scenic villages and places to eat and meander by the river? Sandwich? Or perhaps the more full-on seaside experience of Margate or Ramsgate?
