Hotels in cannes and travelling to Grasse

Can anyone help with a recommendation fora 2 star hotel in Cannes. We are there in the week before Xams. I've heard the Alnea? is fine. We plan to go to Grasse as well for two days. Would it be better to stay in Grasse or Cannes? How long is the trip from cannes to Grasse? Bus or train? Hope someone can help.
