Jasper National Park Jun 7, 2013 at 12:14 AM

My Friend and I are driving from Vancouver to Jasper on the first day of our trip. Arrival time to Jasper will be late in the evening. Do we need to buy the pass when we arrive or can we wait till the morning to purchase the park pass?
      Thanks

Map of Greyhound bus stations/stops in the Banff Rocky Mountains area

Banff National Park May 30, 2013 at 3:27 AM

Friends of mine and me are planning an extended hiking trip in the Rockies near Banff NP. We will be traveling by bus, and therefore need to plan our hiking route with the reachable trail heads/endpoints in mind.

Does anyone know of a map(!) which shows all the Greyhound bus stations and stops? So far we have only found a list of all stations (the names), which is of no use to us at all as we have no idea where these stations actually are...

Hiking off the trails - is it possible/legal/advisible?

Banff National Park May 30, 2013 at 3:32 AM

We are planning an extended hiking trek in the Rockies near Banff NP. The three of us are quite experienced hikers and have all done plenty of hikes (ranging from 1-3 weeks at a time) in Northern Europe and South America.

For our hike in the Rockies we are wondering:

      - Is hiking off the marked trails in national parks legal? (a source for this would be awesome!)

      - Does anyone have either personal experience or knows of a good source of information (e.g. concerning routes/trailheads/etc.)?

Most information we were able to find concerns day-hikes or small 2-3 day hikes in the immediate vicinity of official camping places etc. This is not what we are looking for...

    • Stagette in Banff, Canmore, or Somewhere Similar

by ellingsen_heather Online Now Feb 23, 2009 at 12:56 AM

I am planning a destination stagette in Banff, Canmore, or somewhere similar for a Saturday in July. We only have time to go away for one night so we don't want to go too far from Calgary. The bride is open to anything from hiking to a spa day, but we don't want to spend too much money. I've spent lots of time in the Rockies, but never for a stagette party and I was hoping someone could offer some specific suggestions (places to stay etc.) I was thinking that it would be fun to rent a cabin at a ski resort, but I don't know if that is possible for just one night. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

      B & B accomodation in Canmore

by MichaelFalk1969 Online Now Apr 20, 2008 at 1:44 PM

Hi there I have a bit of a dilemma here: I`m going to Banff National Park in September 2008. Everybody says that Canmore is preferrable to Banff acomodation-wise, as it is not as overrun with tourists as Banff is. When I did some research on VT and Tripadvisor on local B&B`s though, most reviews were very, very negative. I get the impression that all accomodation in Canmore is either a dump or overpriced. Can anybody recommend a really friendly B&B in Canmore (or Banff or somewhere close to Banff NP) with honeymoon-style rooms, ca. 120-150 CDN per room/night ? Thanks, Michael

      Canmore to Banff Transport

by HazeinOz Online Now Mar 24, 2007 at 6:02 AM

My Husband and I are staying Falcolncrest in Canmore in June. Could you please advise if and what transportation is available to us for getting in between there and Banf (without having to hire a car) Are there organised tours to different regions, like Lake Louise/Edmonton/Jasper etc or is it easier to go back into Calgary to get to some of these places. Sorry, but its the first time we have travelled to Canada from Oz. Any tips greatly appreciated.
