we are 2 couples and would like to see the ruins without the milk run and all the stops the tour bus do. we would like to know what to expect to pay. and the turnaround time..to cancun
No idea on a taxi but my suggestion is to rent a car. We've done that a couple times. Or do a web search for a private guide.

If memory serves it's about 3 hours each way from Cancun to Chichen Itza so you'd be paying a cab for the entire day presuming you want to come back so I'd also recommend doing a private tour or renting a car and then hiring a guide once you get there. Usually not on the 7 there going fast. If it's a slow time I have seen it on occasion but the stops are pretty close... more
