Mexico City to Cancun in 4 days, what should I see & how?

Hi there, I am thinking about going from Mexico City to Cancun in about four days. I was thinking about doing possibly Puebla, Palenque and Chichén-Itzá as stops. I am an independent traveler and Spanish speaker, possibly taking buses. Is it doable? What buses would you take? What stops would you do? Any good overnight buses that I can take? Any other places where you would stop? thanks!
