My son is a musician (solo, alternative) and we are interesting in live music or "open mike" cafes in Canberra. Does anyone know of any in the city/area? Thanks.

check out the potbelly and the phoenix (near civic) just forget for the moment where the potbelly is - if you google i am sure you can find it

I too would also recommend the Phoenix I first saw my friends band Hellbringer play there in march 2009. Its in the heart of the Civic there is always a band playing at the basement up north from civic Then there is ANU bar in the univerity (near civic) Hellbringer once played a gig at the Krave nightclub (also in civic). Im not sure if they would ever open their nightclub to whatever music your son is into & Hellbringer once played at the TAv down sout of Canberra in Wasania
