My wife and I are considering spending 7 days in the Canary Islands in late June. We were considering Las Palmas on Gran Canaria. We prefer to keep away from touristy areas & as we are retired we are not looking for extravagant nightlife and discos. We prefer quieter pubs and good restaurants. Is Gran Canaria a good choice?
Do they sell Lactose Free Milk in the supermarkets in Tenerife? I remember there being a Lidel last time I went but wasn't sure???
10 days available in Fuerteventura and possibly crossing to Lanzarote: any recommendation for special beaches (I'm not interested in wind sports) and things to see, places to to visit, tiny restaurants to check? I can speak fluent Spanish. Gracias!
We are thinking of renting a wheelchair accessible villa in October but struggling to find information on accessible restaurants , bars etc . Our boys are 12 and 16 so need to find things we can all do as a family , any suggestions please?
Hi, travelling to the playa Olid apartments next week, does anyone know if trousers are required in the dining room? thanks gaz
I am looking for some hotels for next winter in Puerto and consider Sol Puerto Playa. It has a very good price with breakfast included. But it sais that there is no fridge in the room to keep cold water or drinks in. Is that really so, or a misunderstanding.
Anyone who has been there and what do you have to tell us about that hotel?
Hi everybody!
Who knows the answers to some simple but not for me questions? I’m going to visit Tenerife island this spring. Our plane lands Tenerife Sur(Reina Sofia) in the middle of the day.
My questions:
1. Can I use local bus №111 for transferring from airport to hotel? In other words, how far the bus stop is from the building of airport?
2. If they don’t sell BONO bus cards in a bus where can I buy it before getting a bus? Somewhere in the building of airport? At the bus stop?
3. What BONO bus card (for 12 or 30 euro) should I choose to buy if I going to have ~4 trips in the island (shopping, zoo,.. return airport) during 10 days for two persons.
I don't know their rules and local prices..
Thanks in advance.
Hi, any advice would be appreciated, I have 2 possible apartments next Christmas one is just a letting through easy booking website 511, which doesn't look great but says in El Medano but on the map not, and the other is sovanto which is i believe 2-3 km from el medano but the apartment looks nicer , though no bars etc etc can anyone advise on these apartments especially the 511 one as I cannot see any reviews and it doesn't look like any on the booking engines. Many thanks

Hello all, I'd like to book a warm weather holiday for October/November time and the Canary Islands look like a good choice weather wise. However, I know nothing about them other than the rather unflattering reputation of beer drinking British holidaymakers sardine like on busy beaches and I'm certain there is more to them that that! After all Ibiza has a reputation for all night clubbing and craziness but there are parts of that island untouched by mass tourism so I really hope there might be something similar in the Canaries... So, can anyone give me some advice on which island or area on an island that might offer the sort of break I'm after. Which is... Clean beaches that are not black volcanic sand - I have two young children who like the white/yellow variety for their sandcastles. If possible with sunloungers to rent and a shower for when sand gets where it shouldn't and of course a nice local restaurant. Sadly the requirement of facilities often goes hand in hand with three thousand holidaymakers crammed on to one stretch of beach with a burger cafe but I'm hoping there is an alternative. Any suggestions as to which would be the best island and where on that island I should look would be gratefully received. Thank you.
Hi All , Was not sure whether to post this question in this forum or the canary islands forum. We live in london and were looking for a holoday in March 1st week for a week to a sunny area of europe . We are a couple in early 30s. We are confused between algarve and canary islands as both seem beautiful and less colder than london. We are looking for a relaxing holiday : beautiful beaches, natural scenery, good vegetarian food and fun things to do like para gliding , snorkelling , biking and beautiful walks etc. We are not very party types and like our own time rather than partying in pubs and clubs . Based on our expectation which place will you suggest - algarve or canary islands and where in the suggested places as both seem to be huge . Many thanks, R
What is the music programme at the Bambi Astoria Centre from 1st Feb to 15th Feb?
Hi, we're coming with a bunch of friends (in our twenties and thirties), mostly for hiking and rock climbing, but would definitely also like to do some partying. Are the clubs, bars, etc, open at this time of year? Is it pretty lively, or kind of dead? Will it make a difference if we come in the last weekend of February, rather than say second weekend in March? It's a friends birthday trip, and I'm organising it, so wouldn't like him to be dissapointed that everything is shut and out of season... Thanks!
Hello, We will be in Playa de los Americas for 2 weeks end of 2012 and plan to do some hiking on the island. We will have a car and therefore prefer round trips that start and finish where we park the car. I have an outdoor GPS and am looking for GPS tracks for day hikes of about 15-20 km. I have already found many tracks on internet, more than I can ever walk. We'll do the Teide hike if the weather allows. Now I need some advice from the experts: which part or specific hike on the island we should not miss during our hikes? It would be cool to have a mixture of different walks lunar landscapes, forests, cliffs etc to get a good feel for all the nature Tenerife has to offer. If you have GPS tracks of your favorite hike, please let me know! Thanks, Dennis
Hi guys. I hope somebody of you knows something about street performing in Las Palmas, are there some artists already, do you need a permit to perform there and if you need one, how much does it cost? Thank you in advance.
Hi There Its my 5th year anniversary on December 2nd with my girlfriend and Im taking her to Corralejo then where I plan to propose to her. The thing is I know she would love if I did it in a live singing venue/ place (she loves music and sings well) after I sing her a song but I don't know where??? Are there any popular or even intimate/ romantic singing venues/ places to do this in Corrajelo in December around this date?? I read that there are karaoke venues/ live singing in Fuerteventura. I realise I'm pushing the boat a bit with this one!! BUT any tips/ advice/ help would be richly recommended I'm not overly worried as long as its not a really crappy place but naturally I'm just concerned about such an occasion and making it well...as great as possible! ANY and I mean ANY advice on this would be RICHLY appreciated!! Many thanks in advance :)
Hi Guys My Fiancee and I are planning a weeks trip to Costa Adeje in Tenerife. We fly out on on Christmas Eve and just have a few questions we hope someone could help with. We booked independently so don't have and pre booked couch. Any ideas how much a taxi would cost from the airport to the Luabay Hotel Costa Adeje ? Also with it being over Christmas and we dont plan on doing to much but is there anything still open over this period ? ie : bars or restaurants we are all inclusive so not to much of a problem if a lot is closed. Anyway any advance help or pointers in the right direction would be appreciated. J.

Hello, Looking for some suggestions for a two week holiday the last two weeks of December. Islands of choice (we have been to the other islands already): Tenefire Fuerteventura La Gomera Hierro Our interests are a combination of hiking and sunbathing, so we are looking for a central spot on the sunny side of the island. We'll probably rent a car and are looking for a self-catering apartment... Also looking for GPS tracks of hikes, so if you know of some good day-hikes, that would be great... Thanks, Dennis
We have booked to stay at the above hotel in October and have read the negative reviews on trip advisor. Has anyone stayed there recently and is the hotel as bad as the reviews say?
Can you tell me the best places to surf in Lanzarote, places where not many people .. thanks
We are considering many different places from city breaks to somewhere with some sun and looking at the canaries. How warm will it be the first week in February? (as an average) - is it hot enough to sunbathe? I keep hearing so many mixed reviews of the weather! Thanks Clare
How are the temperatures in Lanzarote in January...and are resorts open all year round? Also live near Newcastle but appears to be no direct flights to Lanzarote from Newcastle Airport...any idea which airports fly here without going to London? Thank you :)
Hi, my husband and I are going to the Island of Sal next week and I understand I have to drink bottled water, but should we avoid uncooked vegetables and fruit served in restaurants (because they will have been washed in tap water)? Don't want to spend our holiday feeling sick... Thanks!
Just wondering where is the best place to stay to be in the centre of things in Playa de las Americas Tenerife. We are a couple in late 20s and want to stay somewhere that is close to beach nightlife shops etc. All suggestions welcome!! We are planning 10 days there at the begining of October. Thank you

Hi there, I have booked a flight from the UK ariving in Gran Canaria around noon on 16th December 2012. I intend to hire a car from the airport and would like to spend 3 weeks touring the Island and staying in various places. I have been to Playa Del Ingles / Maspalomas & Puerto Rico in the past, and although I may drive through I really do not intend to stay in these locations. Ideally I would like to plan a route that takes in scenery and nature, with some good walking and small villages that accept tourists. Also quiet beach locations would be welcome. I welcome any suggestions that anyone may have. Do I need to book accommodation in advance? Can you recommend decent and economical places to stay? I am looking forward to planning my visit.................help please! Regards, John
