Any Suggestions?

by davidsontracy93 Online Now Jan 22, 2013 at 1:06 AM

We have been planning a family trip to Algonquin Park and is looking for a good place to stay. We knew about some hotels there, but prefer a cabin or room where we can enjoy the view-outs.. Also if it is near the lake, then we can do kayaking without any hassle. Any Suggestions? What about Killarney Lodge and Park lodge?

I believe there are only three lodges on HY60 to pick from.
    Killarney, Bartlett and Arowhon.
The times we stayed in the Park we had the luck of being able to rent a leasehold cottage, son we cannot reecommend.
But you should have your own lake side cottage.
    Lodges usually include a canoe(s) I believe .
If you want a kayak Alginquin Outfitters rents both canoes and kayaks.
There is an Algonquin Outfitters store on Lake Opeongo and Oxtongue Lake at the west entrance to the park.
The Portage Store on Canoe lake has no kayaks I believe.
We have canoed on Canoe, lake , Tea Lake,Joe Lake and Teepee Lake and there is good canoeing there for Beginner/Intermediates.
We have been n Smoke Lake , just south , which is a bit bigger .
Paddling from the south end to the north end into a head wind is a tough paddle.
One of us canoed ( two times ) on lake Opeongo many years ago.
A long paddle and open to the wind.
Never canoed on Lake of Two Rivers or Cache Lake.
Looking at the map I would probably favour Cache Lake.

I would suggest Killarney Lodge. I had a trip to Algonquin park last year with my family and it was the most wonderful trip in my life. We stayed in a three-bedroom cabin which was even amazing! We could see the view outs sitting inside, had kayaking and just played around in the park.  The price was reasonable.  The package also included meals, personal canoe a dn lot more. Worth the investment!
