We are arriving on a cruise to Naples and wasnt to go to Herculaneum. Is it eady to get to?? The tour from the boat starts at 1.30 -5.00 and the ship leaves at 6, but do not want to waste a day waiting for a tour. Woudl be good to do an early tour and then walk around Naples then back to the ship. Ideas????
Hi everybody!!! I will spend 6 days in Napoli next June and July. I would like to know how many days should I spend visiting the city and how many in a day trip to: Ischia? Ravello? Herculano? I have been in Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi, Positano and Pompey 10 years ago. I would like to go again to some places, but I dont know if I have enough time to go. I really apreciate any advice!!
Hello everybody!!! i am arriving to stazione di treni Centrale Napoli and have to go to Hotel Neapolis in Via Francesco del Giudice and Via Tribunali. Which is the cheapest and fastest way to go to the hotel? Many thanks for any advice!!!
Of course I understand that parking is difficult and the Amalfi coast roads are narrow etc. But - since we also have intended to spend some time outside this area, for example visiting famous gardens and visiting some vineyards - a car seems to be an interesting option...
So - do any of you have ideas of where would be good places to stay a) in Sorrento b) on the Amalfi coast. The intention of ours has been to spend 4-5 days divided into two stays at different sites.
Nice hotels with neighborhoods where one can find restaurants, perhaps avoiding 10.000 steep steps every single days. Parking would be a good option, ie. to be able to be able to use the car whenever you need and have the parking spot when you arrive back from an excursion etc.
Or - would you still recommend skipping the car, using the bus system and fully enjoy the car-free life and skipping all the vine tastings & garden visits on the way to/from Rome?
Does anyone know if Pompeii is open on May 1? I plan on visiting that day and don't want to run into any unexpected surprises. Thanks!
Hello.
Some of my friends will be on holiday in Positano, in august, and we would like to take a one day trip to Napoli. We will arrive with our cars, but we would like to find some public parking, to leave the cars during visiting the city. Does anybody know some parking, on the way to Sorento (positano), easy to reach and safe, and close to some public transportation?
Thank you.
We are checking out of our hotel in Rome and taking the train to Pompeii for the day. Is there someplace to store luggage when you tour Pompeii? We are not returning to Rome. What to do with our luggage....? Thank you.
Three traveling Rome to Pompeii for the day in summer 2013. We were thinking of going to Sorrento just for the evening of relaxation -- dinner. We wanted a moderately-priced hotel (until you think we should go someplace other than Sorrento?) for the evening with a beautiful balcony/view. Any suggestions/thoughts. Thank you.
Can anyone suggest a tour guide or company for the Pompeii ruins? I do not want to take a private tour (as I have done some research and they are quite expensive). I would prefer to use a guide that takes a small group (max 10 people or so). I have searched on Trip Advisor and almost all of the guides are private so I'm running into a wall. I don't want to risk just showing up to the ruins and hoping a group guided tour is available. Thank you!
Hi everyone.
My husband and I will be in Naples for four nights in September. I feel like I need some advice on which would be the best neighbourhood(s) for us to stay in. We're in our late 20s and have traveled extensively in Italy and Europe, but never been to Naples. I'm not paranoid, but I am aware of Naples' reputation, so would like to stay in a neighbourhood where I feel safe. From what I gather, I shouldn't stay around the train station, and maybe not even in the Centro Storico?
We will be visiting the Archeological Museum, and will be taking a day trip to Mt. Vesuvius. We will probably also go to Pompeii again.
Thanks in advance!
I'm going to be staying in Sorrento for a couple of nights with my husband, in-laws, and two family friends. Another aunt and uncle may be coming as well. The two of us will be there for two nights and everyone else will be there for an additional 1-2 nights.
We would, of course, all like to stay in the same place. We are open to hotels, B&Bs, or self catering apartments.
Maximum budget is 150EUR a night but of course if it's a little less, that's ok, too ;)
I'm only used to booking accoms for two people, so could use a little help for the bigger group booking! Any suggestions?
Thank you!
Hey!
Im thinking abt travelling to Campania with my mum in late summer. Ideally i would like to be close to Naples (was thinking abt visiting ischia also for a day or two, and also pompeii and herculaneum) however, im a bit worried abt safety in Naples since i've been reading some things online. staying in Naples would be cheaper, bt since im travelling with mum maybe staying in sorrento would be more comfortable?? I would like to hear ur opinions thanks!
I should be in Naples when there is a home game soon could anyone tell me if tickets are easily bought at the stadium or are there any outlets in the city?
Many thanks!
We have opted to hire a car for our 5 days in Sorrento next week, to drive to and from the airport and to see the sights whilst there. I have read a few comments on various sites which lead me to believe that driving ourselves to Pompeii and Vesuvius may not be the best option; I would appreciate some advice. Thank you.
Hi VT people
My fiancee and I are spending a week in May in the Sorrento area. We have booked a villa in Nerano (about 16km from Sorrento) and plan to visit Capri and Pompeii whilst there. I particularly want to get up close to Vesuvius though. There are guided tours from about £150 for 2 people where you can see Pompeii and Vesuvius in the same day but would it be easy to DIY the experience? I know getting to Pompeii is very easy and cheap but I've read it is a pain to then go on to Vesuvius without a private driver. Is it worth the extra money for the full tour?
Cheers
Jimmy
Can anyone tell me if this service is available on a Sunday ? I am planning on taking train from Rome To Naples and then Pompei on a Sunday in April 2013. Are there any restrictions on a Sunday ?
Hi. I have a family member who was very recently widowed. She and her husband traveled to Italy frequently and they loved Posantino. He was cremated and she wants to scatter his ashes there. I will not be able to travel with her but I would love to have a gift available for her when she arrives to the special place. Some kind of memorial stone or possibly a tree planted in his memory. Also, he was an extreme wine enthusiast. Is there a way to have a special wine made in his name or a vinyard named after him?
Please help.
Thank you
Hi,
my wife and I will be flying to Naples from the UK in May this year, and I have booked a hotel on the outskirts of Sorrento ( Sant Agnello ) This is the first time in Italy for us and I am wondering if it is relatively easy to get from Naples airport to Sorrento by bus ? Also, I would be grateful for any tips on what to do and where to go whilst there. I believe that it is easy to get to Pompeii by train, so we will be visiting there. Any other suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thank you
We are going to visit Amalfi Coast for our 44th annversary next May and we h've reserved 3h to visit Ravello and it's astonishing gardens and views.Which would be our best way to spend 3 hours app. there ? Thanks a lot for a kind answer from everybody!
Hello! We have 5 days based just outside of Amalfi to celebrate our 25th anniversary! We want to see area but also really want to relax-3 kids, two dogs at home!! Definitely want to go to Capri and can swing a boat for a day. Do not think we want to rent a car. Best ideas to see this incredible gift while still not going too hard? We are going mid May.
My husband and I will be traveling by train from Rome to sorrento (with all our luggage in tow). We plan on taking a day trip to Pompeii. Logistically, we would prefer to change trains in Naples (which apparently we have to regardless to get to sorrento) and go to Pompeii on the way. Otherwise we would take a day trip from sorrento which seems like we would be doubling back. Here is the problem: where can we store our luggage if we stop in Pompeii just for the tour and head back to sorrento late afternoon? I would think other travelers have run into this issue as well? We really want to make this work, I appreciate the help!
Could you please tell me the different ways to get from Naples train station to Positano.
Thank you for your assistance
We will be docking in Naples for 1 day this May. We want to visit Pompeii, but I also want to visit one of the picturesque towns on the coast. Should we shoot for the Isle of Capri, or Sorrento (or even another suggestion)? We like to go it on our own and not book one of the ship's excursions. Was thinking of taking the train from Naples to Pompeii and then Sorrento, if that is what we pick. Is that too much to pack into a day? It all looks so beautiful, it's hard to narrow it down!!
has anyone stayed at the grand hotel ambasciatori
Hello everybody, Next month we will spend a week in the south of Italy; our itinerary includes a drive from Amalfi coast to Lecce. Now could anybody recommend some scenic roads around the area? The roads don't have to be short. They must be beautiful. Thanks in advance!
We will be flying from Paris to Naples. What is the easiest/fastest/cheapest way to get to the port to take a hydrofoil to Capri? Also, what is the name of the port we need to go to to take a hydrofoil to Capri? I've read that taxis can run around 40.00 EUR from the aiport to the port. We would like something a little cheaper than that but something that doesn't stop a lot either. Thanks!
My husband and I are going to Paris early May for a few days and then flying to Naples. We were planning on ferrying to Capri (what is the best to use). Should we stay in Capri or Anacapri and where?? What all should we definitely do while we are there? We are planning on being there 3 nights. Will there be plenty for us to do?
I will be in Naples around the end of February just for couple of days. Should i go to Capri? I have heard that most places are closed during "dead" season.. Any advice would more than appreciated. Thanks!!!
I'm in the process of planning a trip to Pompeii and I can't seem to obtain a figure for the train fare from Naples to Pompeii. I'm okay of flights, hotel etc 1) Is it because there is no direct line and I need to change? 2) If there is a direct line, how much is it??? 3) The shuttle bus from Naples Airport to the train station, is it free or is there a charge. If so, how much is it? Estimated figures will be fine. Thank you!
Hi, I have booked a holiday and during the stay my husband and I are driving along the coast from Rome to Sorrento and was wondering if anyone can give me any tips of where to stop, sightseeing anything to look out for? I am excited as I can imagine the sights are outstanding! when I look on the map it looks as if we will be really close to the water, as it is an experience I probably wont repeat I want to make the most of it! Many thanks in advance for any tips.... Fileyess
