    • One Day in Naples

      Naples Feb 20, 2015 at 5:26 PM

Actually it is one full day and one half day (we are taking the train from Florence, arriving at about 11 AM, will take our luggage to the hotel and I figure we'll have from 1 PM on). Our full day my wife and I are taking a tour of Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius so that will occupy pretty much the whole day (9:30 - 5:30). The question is what to do the half day? Based off travel books I have come up with going to the historic area and having pizza for lunch, visiting the Royal Palace, taking a tour of the Opera House, and in the evening visiting the Archeological Museum (our hotel is very close by). I'm assuming the Palace and the Opera House will each take about an hours. Is this reasonable, or are there better sights?

      Steps in Positiano

      Campania Feb 15, 2015 at 9:56 AM

We are considering a trip to Positiano which has many steep steps. We will be traveling with a 3 year old and this is of concern. Would Sorrento, Amalfi or Salerno be a better choice or are they all the same in regards to the number of steps?

We wish to walk from Ercolano to the summit of Vesuvius using the network of paths in the National Park . We have the leaflet showing half a dozen or so routes but not sufficient details of the exact start point etc. Does anyone know where we can source details of ascent routes up Vesuvius? ( We know that most folk are happy to walk form the road end but we want more than 30 minutes exercise!)

Taxi ride fares and Hop on hop off tours

      Naples Jan 20, 2015 at 11:31 AM

Hallo my friends. We will travel to Naples from Rome for a day trip by train, specifically for the Capodimonte museum and one or two churches. But I am shocked with most of the reviews I read about crime cases...I mean pickpockets etc. I would like to ask
      1. In order to get to Capodimonte Museum do you think a taxi ride would be better than a bus? But then, what about money? I'm afraid we might get ribbed off by the taxi driver...I don't know what the price should approxemately be.
      2. If we decide to get a hop on hop off tour, which company should we trust in order to have a good experience?
      Thanks alot.

      Naples to Pompeii to Benevento

      Pompeii Jan 15, 2015 at 7:05 PM

I'm arriving in Naples Sat. 8 Feb. from Bilbao, Spain around 1pm. I would like to visit Pompeii & Herculaneum on Sunday, but I have to be in Benevento that night for work on Monday. Should I train to Pompeii for Sat. night? It looks like I'd have to take a train back to Naples, then to Benevento, taking about three hours. How late do the trains run, and what time should I plan to leave Pompeii on Sunday?

    • Searching for a specifik hotel in Ischia!! Please help me!

      Ischia Jan 7, 2015 at 12:30 PM

I'm searching for a hotel in the Ischia and I would really appreciate if you could help me find it.

It's a 4 star hotel/resort when it's full there can be around 400-500 guests at least.

The hotel is u-shaped and has bungalows in front of the main building, on the other side of a parking space,

I think it's quite a big complex, when guests are going to stay in one of the bungalows one of the staff will take you to your room in something similar to a golf car.

      It has 5 floors

It has a spa with emotional showers and jacuzzi baths/thermal baths,

The hotel has two restaurants for the customers and two bars, one pool bar and one bar inside.

The hotel is open right now but it is closing this week for 3,5 weeks for maintenance.

Outisde of the hotel, very close, there is another restaurant that is not with the hotel but many hotel guests go there, it's like a disco bar restaurant/pizzera where people can both eat, drink and dance.

The hotel has bed and breakfast, half board and full board.

When guests arrive late in the evening and they have booked HB or FB, they get a cold dinner plate served for them.

The hotel has glass doors in the entrance and the floor is blue and beige tiles, the reception desk is white,

The reception area/lobby have a beautiful ceiling and arched roof between the rooms.

It's a family run hotel and the owners are old over 60 or 70 years old and they still work there.

It has 24 hours reception service.

      Positano Nov 5, 2014 at 7:45 AM

      Hello,

I'm planning a visit to Sorrento and Positano for next Friday. We will be staying in Naples and plan to take the Circumvesuviana from Naples to Sorrento. We thought it might be nice to wander around Sorrento for awhile before boarding a bus to Positano. I'm having a hard time understanding the SITA time table in regards to bus times to and from Positano. This is the last day of our trip, so it's important that we don't get stuck in Positano. Does anyone know what time the buses run until? Or any other advice for traveling from Naples to Positano or suggestions on must-see's would be appreciated!!

    • Amalfi coast vacation...

      Amalfi Oct 7, 2014 at 3:34 PM

My family and I are planning a trip to Italy next year late June to early July. We were thinking of flying into Rome, doing a few days in rome and then going down the somewhere on the Amalfi coast for about a week. From there we can do day trips etc. What is the best town to stay in for this? I don't think that we will be renting a car, so I want to be able to get around fairly easily. I understand that there are ferries and hydrofoils that go from naples, salerno, sorrento, capri, amalfi etc. I just want to make the most of the trip, keep cost down and see as much of beauty of the coast as possible. Also, what are the best towns for shopping and good restaurantsā€¦. Thanks
