I will be in Rome for 1 day only on a cruise ship. How far from Rome is the sea Port? I have been told the port is about an hour from Rome but I am not sure. I would really like to see Pompeii and wondered if it would be possible to hire a car/guide for the day. At this stage I understand the ship will be in port from 7am till 7pm. The people I am travelling with have been to Rome before, but by plane and we would like to know if we do no other sightseeing except Pompeii would it be possible in that timeframe, Thanks for any information
At the exist of the pompeii excavations there is an eating area opposite with several specialty shops. One of the shops sold a small statue of the dancing faun which I was sorry I did not buy at the time. I would now like to try and get this as it was actually made in Italy - could anyone assist me on how to find the name of the shop?
Does anyone know the name of the shop in the back street near the ice cream cafe. They sell the most amazing sweets. The shop is near the museum one street back from corsa italia. They also sell herbs and spices. Jackie

I´ll arrive at "Aeroporto Internazionale di Napoli" on saturday the 26th of october at ~13:45 and have to reach "84098 - Faiano Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport" the same day. No problems during the week - but there is differing information concerning the bus connection....
Can pleeeease somebody who knows this route tell me correct departure times and where to change the bus for "Pontecagnano"?
thanking you in anticipation,
Where I can find a local vendor to ship such a bottle of limoncello?
We are debating where to stay next May...one view is Positano because transport options are better, especially water options. View 2 is Praiano because it is cheaper and quieter. This means we would have to travel to Positano and then do water transfers from there. We are thinking water because the busses are supposedly hectic...is this so in May? What advice?
Is leaving Rome early in the morning for a 1/2 day in Pompeii on the way to two nights in Positano "doable"?
Do excursions for the main tourist sites such as Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum etc go direct from Scala or do you have to catch the coaches from Ravello?
I have been warned by many of my friends and the internet to stay away from Naples and Sorrento due to the high crime rate and pick pocketer's. Does anyone know anything about traveling to Salerno and is it safer? I will be traveling alone and I would prefer not to have to worry about being robbed. Thank you.
I am looking for a relaxing holiday for 5 nights, not worried if the weather isn't hot, but fair, but am worried that there will be no atmosphere if not peak season? What is it like in Sorrento in November - is everything still open etc. or will it be too quiet?
My husband and I are going on a cruise and will be one day in Sorrento. I don't want to take the ships tours. What are the must sees or do's in Sorrento, that are not super touristy but rich in history or culture?

Where to buy wine and groceries?
Whilst in Sorrento this year, I purchased a beautiful linen table cloth and napkins from a small shop which was run by a lovely elderly lady. I would like to purchase another but can't remember the name of the shop. The shop only sold table linen and was located in one of the alleys. Can anybody help please?
We are going half board for two weeks and would like an idea what the cost of buying a coffee or bottle of wine to sit in a cafe in Sorrento works out at - we went to Rome for one week in 2010 and needed to take out a 2nd and 3rd mortgage to pay for anything!
