Hi, my husband and I are planning on spending a few nights in Camden, Maine, as we travel through the state. We will be on the road for some time, so are looking for somewhere we might have self catering. Ideally, we'd like somewhere within easy walking distance of the town. We've been looking at motels, but from the maps etc., they all seem to be 1 mile + outside the town. Is this accurate? Are we misjudging it!!? Anyone know of any nice s/c places? Thanks
I haven't been in that part of New England in many years, so hopefully you'll get some updated advice. camdenmainevacation.com/camd... has a list of a number of places to stay but none seem to be what you are looking for. In years past, very few hotels / resorts had kitchens in the rooms. You might try looking for something like Extended Stay, Residents Inn which have small kitchens in them.

Thanks very much for your speedy response. We'll have driven from New York and will be mid way through our tour, so I think by that stage the novelty and the budgets will be tired of eating out!! thanks for your help, though. I'll check out those web sites you mention.
