We are headed to the Central Coast for our 1st anniversary this December and I am trying to figure out where to stay. We will definitely be doing the Hearst Castle evening tour the night we drive down, and then will have a full day in the area to enjoy. There are so many little towns in the area (Cambria, Morro Bay, Paso Robles) I'm not sure the difference. I'm leaning toward Cambria right now, but what are your favorites and why? Any recommendations on cheaper motels or inns? We don't typically spend much time in the hotel, so just want a clean, quiet place in a good location (though a hot tub would also be a plus)
Hi. What are a some child-friendly activities in Cambria?
I will be in cambria in april and want to see the elephant seals in Piedras Blancas. will they still be there in april? One website says no and another website says pups will be there. I know the adults go back to sea in march.
We'll be making it up the California coast in late April and thought maybe we'd stay one night in Cambria instead of our usual Pismo Beach. Does anyone have a favorite motel, inn or hotel?
How crowded does Cambria get in July and August? I've only been there off-season and was wondering if I would be able to get lodging on Moonstone Beach for a monday and tuesday night stay without reservations.
Has anybody stayed at this b and b. It looks fantastic and we have booked. But I cannot find a single review about it at all which seems strange as it is booked up this month, and has bookings ahead as far as Oct. Any reviews would be great. Thanks
Fogcatcher Inn or Fireside Inn for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids for a 2 night or 3 night relaxing stopover to break long coastal journey san fran to lA in july? Any thoughts or recommendations greatly received. Likewise MOnterey / Carmel as another vt member has kindly recommended breaking trip around there too. Many thanks.
We are 2 adults + 11 / 7 yr old kids travelling by car from Sta Rosa north of S Francisco to LA. considered heading straight to Cambria and basing ourselves there for 3 nights (2nd week july) to relax / do Hearst / beaches / chill before proceeding to LA. Is this a realistic journey and would be we better to break the hwy journey in two places rather than one? any advice or specific places appreciated. we will likely hit cambria 8 july 3 nights and were looking at the best western in cambria. grateful for any advice. leesville
Does anyone know of a house rental in Cambria or surrounding cities (condos work, too) that will house 16-18 people? Thanks for the info.
Is there something I should make a point of seeing while here? I am planning a trip to the Hearst Castle. Or is there some other places that are better. I enjoy hiking and want to spend as much time outdoors as possible.
Shopping - have heard this is a community of artist. Any help in this area would be appreciated. Thanks again.
Would like some great rest. off the beaten path. Have heard this area is known for their clam chowder and of course the fantastic wine. I will be on my own and staying in Cambria.
Lunch spots and dinner places for a single woman's budget. Thanks so much.
P.S. Found a great place to stay in Cambria at the Cambria Shores Inn, will give a report when I get back home.
Would like a nice place with ocean views. Can you help me? Would like some info on San Simeon and other surrounding areas.
I will be coming to take the tour at Hearst Castle on November 5. I am from Texas have only been in this area once for 1 day.
I want to stay in a motel on the coast with the most gorgeous view of the ocean possible. I am coming with my fiance and want this to be one of the best memories of California.
If anyone can tell me which one that might be I would appreciate or at least give me about 3 choices in order of preference.

We are traveling to Cambria in June and my husband wants to fly fish somewhere along the coast. Any suggestions? Also, anyone done a kayak fishing trip?
