Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (3-5 Oct 2014)

      San Francisco 8 hours ago

My partner and I are thinking about flying in to San Francisco in order to go to the HSB Festival (festivalarchive.com/event/ha...) in early October. This would be the first time that we have ever been to San Francisco so are hoping to make the most of our time whilst we're there.

I was wondering whether anybody had every been to the festival before and whether they could share their experiences and perhaps offer any tips or advice on how to get the most out of the festival?

We would be looking at arriving probably a couple of weeks before the festival and a week or so after and would also be keen to check out other live music events/venues whilst we were there, are there any other festivals around this time in the San Francisco area?

Thanks in advance for any help you could offer, we've not booked our flights yet but will probably do so in the next week or two.

      Regards,

      Paul

Hostels to stay in near Union Station LA

Los Angeles Apr 5, 2014 at 7:26 AM

      Hello all!

I am flying into LAX next Sunday at 9pm and I am looking for a place to stay until I get my AMTRAX train from Union Station up to San Francisco on Tuesday morning.

I am planning to go straight from the airport to a hostel / hotel near Union station where I can sleep and recover from Jet lag. I want to stay by Union Station the following Monday day and night so I can be near by to collect my train on the tuesday morning.

Does anybody recommend the best / cheapest way to get from LAX to Union Station on a Sunday night?

Does anybody have any recommendations for places to stay near Union Station?

I am thinking a cheap and friendly youth hostel?

Also, what type of area is Union Station in?
Are there any interesting places in walking distance?
Coffee shops or parks where I can just chill for the afternoon?

I really look forward to hearing from you!
      Many thanks,

      Milly, London

      safe area to stay

San Francisco Apr 15, 2014 at 2:25 PM

      Hi there,
hope you can help!! I have planned a 7 night trip to Sanfrancisco in April Next year. There are 5 of us going so I needed to rent out an apartment. The only one I can find with the bedrooms and outside space in in lower Haight. Its actually on page and Divisadero. Would this area be safe to stay in and can we easily get to the main sights such as Fishermans Wharf and Union Square. I haven't been to SF since 1999 and then I stayed with relatives in San Jose so we just came for day trips.
      Kind regards

by rene82 Online Now Nov 1, 2013 at 12:40 PM

We are headed to the Central Coast for our 1st anniversary this December and I am trying to figure out where to stay. We will definitely be doing the Hearst Castle evening tour the night we drive down, and then will have a full day in the area to enjoy. There are so many little towns in the area (Cambria, Morro Bay, Paso Robles) I'm not sure the difference. I'm leaning toward Cambria right now, but what are your favorites and why? Any recommendations on cheaper motels or inns? We don't typically spend much time in the hotel, so just want a clean, quiet place in a good location (though a hot tub would also be a plus)
