I will be coming to take the tour at Hearst Castle on November 5. I am from Texas have only been in this area once for 1 day. I want to stay in a motel on the coast with the most gorgeous view of the ocean possible. I am coming with my fiance and want this to be one of the best memories of California. If anyone can tell me which one that might be I would appreciate or at least give me about 3 choices in order of preference. Email me at annitt@grandecom.net
Check out the Moonstone Beach area. Many fine cottages/motels right across the street from the ocean. Great for beachwalking and viewing. See website:www.cambriasbest.com

Cambria has been my home for the past 18 years, so I know whereof I speak. If you're looking for the view you want to book a room on Moonstone Beach. One of the loveliest and most romantic I've seen is the Blue Whale Inn. You can check out the Blue Whale and the other motels on Moonstone at http://www.cambriachamber.org/. The views at the Litle Sur Inn aren't as good in my opinion, although they all have an unblocked view of the ocean because California State Parks own the land on the other side of the road. I must admit I haven't been in all of the motels. Have a great time and check out the Elephant seals six miles north of Hearst Castle too. You're coming at a wonderful time of the year the weather should be perfect! Bev

If 'surrounding area' includes Cayucos, I recommend the Cayucos Sunset Inn. It has ocean views ( from inside, and from the balcony ), big 2-person jacuzzi tubs, exsquisite decor. And it's a short walk to the pier afterwards where you can see seals and other critters. PS: putting your address on any website is a sure way to get spam. If you must post it ( and here you don't need to ) at least use something like 'annittNOSPAM@grandecom.net', and most people will understand that they need to take out the 'NOSPAM' to form the correct address.

Surrounding area could include my favorite view location in Morro Bay. The Inn at Morro Bay is ideal for romance and has a beautiful view of the bay and the "rock". Restaurant located on premise is gourmet quality. The bar is a great place to spend time with a fireplace and view windows of the bay. Only a few miles up to Cambria and within 30 minutes to San Simeon. Check it out at website: www.innatmorrobay.com
