Travelling to Siem Reap via Kratie

I am going to Phnom Penh on Oct 4 and then to Siem Reap. I would like to go to Kampong Cham and then Kratie and then on to Siem Reap by road. Is it possible at this time of year and how long would it take? Is there a bus service? Would greatly appreciate any help.
