I am planning to travel on route 395-S and CA-120 to reach Yosemite from South Lake Tahoe. Would like to know whether the road will be open in June last week and how is the drive itself?
This is kind of first time, I am driving in hills and your replies are appreciated
How cheap are hotels in ps now that the summer heat is on?
I can't decide whether or not to do the tour. We're only in Napa for one day and I don't know if I want to take that much time. What will I miss if I don't do the tour?
Does anyone know where the cheapest shopping outlets are in LA, for clothes, shoes, make up etc?? We have one day to shop on the way home.
How long is the drive from Lake Tahoe to Yosemite NP. Recommended places to stay at either or both ends of the drive?
Hi,
We're planning a trip to California in July next year with our 7-year old son. Détails are a bit sketchy at the moment but the idea is to fly to Los Angeles, visit Disneyland (maybe get a combined hotel/entry ticket deal?), maybe see Hollywood (not sure), then to fly or take the train to Las Vegas, visit Grand Canyon/the Hoover Dam, then to spend a few days in San Francisco, including a two-day trip with a local travel company to Yosemite.
I'd be interested in any tips you might have on things to see, places to stay, things to do or not to do...
Thanks very much
I would want to rent a car and move around all the nearest beaches near to red wood shores. you can say beach hopping and at the same time, i would be able to drive car in USA.
Could you please suggest some options to me.
Thanks

We are visiting Palm Springs at the end of June, so far all the hotels I have tried to book are adults only. Can anyone recommend a hotel that will welcome a 16 year old boy and his parents? We are particularly interested in mid-20th century modernism? thanks, Melanie from Manchester, UK.

is there any bus trasportation from Alameda st to South Central Ave Los Angeles
New question! My husband and I will be renting a car for one day to go somewhere else other than Santa Monica and Hollywood. Any recommendations on someplace along the coastline that's under a two-hour drive? We're up for good restaurants, a nice beach, or some sightseeing.
Suggestions please on 4th July celebrations near LAX / Redondo Beach or nearby
Many thanks
My husband and I are going to spend the day in West Hollywood, and I've planned several activities that are somewhat close together - LACMA, The Grove and then drinks at Chateau Marmont and a comedy show at the Laugh Factory. We'll be coming from Santa Monica and I had previously thought we could cab in and walk to all of these somewhat close locations, and then cab back at night. Do you recommend this, or would renting a car be a better option?
Any suggestions about where to watch fireworks in the city? Family of four with 17 & 21 year old. Crissy Park a good idea?
Taxi driver offers to pick us up at the Getty Villa after our visit, but arrives in 'his own car.'
We are two elderly Australians, traveled to USA for conference and visited New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco and Los Angeles. Last day of our trip and wanted to see Getty. Took a Yellow Cab outside Hilton LAX and very friendly driver. Offers to leave us at Malibu for lunch, pick us up, take us to Getty. Offers to take us to Hilton LAX at Getty Villa closing time.
Driver greets us in own car and against my own code, we got in. Deadlatched the doors, offered to take us the scenic route to hotel with a charge of US$45. I felt uneasy and feigned an upset stomach - threatened possible 'throw-up'. After that he drove us to the hotel, quick smart.
We are puzzled...and feeling foolish. Has this happened to anyone else travelling or living in LA? Was this driver a genuine good Samaritan, or was he scamming? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.

I am african-canadian but i obtained a scholarship to study @ Berkeley this summer and i will be living in El Cerrito. I am a black person, ergo i was wondering if EC is dangerous for gang related crimes on innocent by-standers ( dont laugh at me I've never been to SF and heard that Richmond, near EC is the worst city in NoCal (Not trying to insult anyone from richmond :)
Basicly Is there some corners I should avoid, colors i should not wear( being black) or things i shouldnt do?????
I need ur feedback now i am leaving friday
Hello! Taking my wife to Napa for our 15th anniversary next month. We've never been there. I've read up a bit on things to do (Wine Train sounds cool), but would appreciate if anyone had a 2-3 day itinerary they could share. We will have a rental from SFO. Thanks in advance!
I'd like to do this as a day trip. I did consider spending the night, but our accommodations for the week are already paid for as a weeky rate.
I'm thinking of taking Hwy 1 down and Hwy 101 back. I don't care to spend a really long time on Hwy 1, but would like to see some of the coast. At which point would you suggest picking up Hwy 1?
And would you take Hwy 68 to Salinas to access Hwy 101 when it is time to head back to SF?
I did read that Big Sur had wonderful views, but with only one day allocated to this, I don't think that is possible.
I'm traveling with my husband and older kids (26-16). We don't plan to stop in Santa Cruz to see the boardwalk entertainment.
I'd appreciate any opinions you might have. Thanks!
Hi
We are visiting in June, staying in Eagle Rock and have the following on our hitlist - Santa Monica, Getty Center, Griffith Observatory and main Hollywood sights. We will have our own car but only two full days and I am worried that getting from A to B will take a lot of time as it did on one past visit. Not sure either how to group these attractions geopgraphically and split across the two days. My questions are these:
When are LA peak hour(s) for traffic and yeah, I know it is pretty busy all the time?
Are we better generally using the I and Freeways to get across the city or might other routes be less busy?
If travelling from Getty Center to Griffith Observ. Is it worth going north up 405 and peeling off on Mulholland and driving east at least as far as Laurel Canyon and dropping down on to Franklin or Hollywood Blvds, I am thinking in terms of views/more interest or will this just take forever (Google maps suggests going north and east on the 101). We want some of the journeying to be interesting if possible but Mulholland possibly aside, our main concern is to get from a to b wasting as little time as possible.
Thanks,
Sam from England
HI EVERYBODY
I' M NICO FROM ITALY
ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND ARE PLANNING OUR SUMMER TRIP TO CALIFORNIA
WE' LL ARRIVE TO SAN FRANCISCO THE 10TH OF AUGUST AND WE'LL STAY THERE FOR 3 DAYS.
AFTER THAT WE HAVE 10 DAYS TO GO TO L.A.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?
WE WERE THINKING TO VISIT NAPA VALLEY OR LAKE TAHOE, WHICH IS BETTER?
THAN YOSEMITE, SEQUOIA, PALM SPRINGS AND A DESERT
AND THEN BACK TO THE COAST, VISITING SANTA CRUZ, MONTEREY, CARMEL, SANTA BARBARA AND AT THE END LOS ANGELES
DO U THINK IS A GOOD SELECTION?
THANKS FOR ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS
BYE
My 11 year old son and I will be staying in South Lake Tahoe for a week at the end of July. We would like to see the giant Redwoods and giant Sequoias, where are the nearest locations found. We will have a rental car for the week.
