Hi all
I would like to know what are the most recommended places to go for a 3 day stay in San Francisco.
Also, may i know if the is any trustworthy and good for value local tour agencies that can bring me to Alcatraz and Angel Island?
Is there any must try food?
Are these places recommended? Thank you for your kind help.
I am african-canadian but i obtained a scholarship to study @ Berkeley this summer and i will be living in El Cerrito. I am a black person, ergo i was wondering if EC is dangerous for gang related crimes on innocent by-standers ( dont laugh at me I've never been to SF and heard that Richmond, near EC is the worst city in NoCal (Not trying to insult anyone from richmond :)
Basicly Is there some corners I should avoid, colors i should not wear( being black) or things i shouldnt do?????
I need ur feedback now i am leaving friday
Hello! Taking my wife to Napa for our 15th anniversary next month. We've never been there. I've read up a bit on things to do (Wine Train sounds cool), but would appreciate if anyone had a 2-3 day itinerary they could share. We will have a rental from SFO. Thanks in advance!
I'd like to do this as a day trip. I did consider spending the night, but our accommodations for the week are already paid for as a weeky rate.
I'm thinking of taking Hwy 1 down and Hwy 101 back. I don't care to spend a really long time on Hwy 1, but would like to see some of the coast. At which point would you suggest picking up Hwy 1?
And would you take Hwy 68 to Salinas to access Hwy 101 when it is time to head back to SF?
I did read that Big Sur had wonderful views, but with only one day allocated to this, I don't think that is possible.
I'm traveling with my husband and older kids (26-16). We don't plan to stop in Santa Cruz to see the boardwalk entertainment.
I'd appreciate any opinions you might have. Thanks!
Hi
We are visiting in June, staying in Eagle Rock and have the following on our hitlist - Santa Monica, Getty Center, Griffith Observatory and main Hollywood sights. We will have our own car but only two full days and I am worried that getting from A to B will take a lot of time as it did on one past visit. Not sure either how to group these attractions geopgraphically and split across the two days. My questions are these:
When are LA peak hour(s) for traffic and yeah, I know it is pretty busy all the time?
Are we better generally using the I and Freeways to get across the city or might other routes be less busy?
If travelling from Getty Center to Griffith Observ. Is it worth going north up 405 and peeling off on Mulholland and driving east at least as far as Laurel Canyon and dropping down on to Franklin or Hollywood Blvds, I am thinking in terms of views/more interest or will this just take forever (Google maps suggests going north and east on the 101). We want some of the journeying to be interesting if possible but Mulholland possibly aside, our main concern is to get from a to b wasting as little time as possible.
Thanks,
Sam from England
HI EVERYBODY
I' M NICO FROM ITALY
ME AND MY GIRLFRIEND ARE PLANNING OUR SUMMER TRIP TO CALIFORNIA
WE' LL ARRIVE TO SAN FRANCISCO THE 10TH OF AUGUST AND WE'LL STAY THERE FOR 3 DAYS.
AFTER THAT WE HAVE 10 DAYS TO GO TO L.A.
DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS?
WE WERE THINKING TO VISIT NAPA VALLEY OR LAKE TAHOE, WHICH IS BETTER?
THAN YOSEMITE, SEQUOIA, PALM SPRINGS AND A DESERT
AND THEN BACK TO THE COAST, VISITING SANTA CRUZ, MONTEREY, CARMEL, SANTA BARBARA AND AT THE END LOS ANGELES
DO U THINK IS A GOOD SELECTION?
THANKS FOR ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS
BYE
My 11 year old son and I will be staying in South Lake Tahoe for a week at the end of July. We would like to see the giant Redwoods and giant Sequoias, where are the nearest locations found. We will have a rental car for the week.
We are 3 women who come to Tahoe every year for Memorial Day. We wanted to try something new and decided it might be fun to go skeet shooting or do indoor target practice. We would like a little instruction but don't want an all day class...this is just for fun, not serious. Any ideas where to go or who to contact?
I'm traveling from San Francisco to Big Sur with my 14 year old daughter. I know we will do the Monterey Aquarium-any good small hotel/inn suggestions? We like hikes, whale watching, strolling by shops and small, non-chain restaurants.
I am moving to Waters Drive soon and wanted to know if I will need tire chains?
Hi,
Me and my sister are travelling to LA. We are udecided to where to stay altough leaning towards a week in week in West Hollywood or Hollywood and 3/4 days in Santa Monica.Things we want to do are shopping, Star walk, clubbing, Venice Beach, Rodeo Drive, Runyon Canyon and sporting events (basketball/baseball). What would people recommend in regards to accommodation location?? We are planning on using public transport as we are to scared to hire a car and drive around LA! (Australian lisence)
I will be travelling to Yosemite NP for the first time in June. Is there any benefit to having a 4WD? or should i just hire a sedan?
Cheers.
We will be landing in San Diego at 9am and then our flight home doesn't leave until 1pm. Is there anything we could do with an 18 month old (zoo? sea world? other?) during that length of layover. We would have to be back at the airport by noon, so not a ton of time really, but a bit too long to be hanging out at an airport with a bored toddler. We obviously won't rent a car, so would need to take some form of public transit. Sorry, if my question is ridiculous or unrealistic! Our trip is actually to Arizona, but we're flying home via San Diego and just realized the length of the layover, so we've done zero research on this city. Hoping you fine folks can help steer us in some kind of direction - even if it's recommending we stay put. Thanks!

Where is my best option to start my hunt for a Summer job in San Francisco? I am an Irish girl and a hard worker!! Any tips? Offers?
Any recommendations for hostels to stay in while looking for accommodation in San Francisco?
2 girls, cheap as possible but you know in a good spot for searching for accommodation and getting around!
Hello my VT friends, My husband and I, along with two other couples, are going to California for 7 days(last week of May). We are from Toronto. We have pretty much planned our leg of trip except for our drive from San Francisco to San Diego. We will be doing this drive in one day span unfortunately. please find the link of our route below
as you can see, we are taking pacific coast 1 all along till we hit Camarillo premium outlets around 6 pm. we plan to head out of San Francisco by 7 am ish. can you please suggest a list of 'MUST-SEE 'places to stop at along the route. we don't want to stop at most of the place in the beginning itself just because we think its breathtaking and hence miss out on the actual spots later on.
thank you very much in advance.
Hi
I will be travelling with my daughter to LA in June and do not want to hire a car. Does anyone know of an amazing hotel with wi-fi, costing a maximum of $150 per night, in a good, safe location near a Metro station?
Thanks in advance, Mark.
Does anyone know of a car service that will take you from SFO to cloverdale for $200 or less?
Can anyone confirm if there are any public parking places where I can park my car for 3 days while in San Francisco?
I have got an amazing rate on the Galleria Hotel, Union Square but they have said that parking is valet only and at a cost of $45.00per day - kind of undoes the great rate they offered.
I'm driving to San Fran and then need it after San Fran for Yosemite and the airport run and could do without returning and rehiring for 3 days!
Hello Y'all I just got my passport and have yet to travel outside of the US (besides Mexico years ago) I am a 21 year old female wanting to chase my dreams of traveling the world. Only problem is I don't know where to begin. So I thought for my first real travel experience it would be nice & smart to travel with a small group to.....honestly, ANYWHERE. I have no specific destination picked out I just want to get up & go. Along the way I figured I could meet new friends travel with someone or a group more experienced and learn a little along the way. I do want to plan solo trips in the future but I figured this would be a good place to start.
Also I'm not looking for a guided tour type deal more like off the beaten path type traveling. I'm yearning for adventure and experiencing new cultures, being present and involved not on a tour bus taking pictures.
Staying at a Long Beach hotel for a convention but will be going to a Saturday evening Dodgers game. We will have a rental car so...
- Should we drive the car up to the stadium and get general parking?
- Or should we drive up to Union Station/Patsaouras Transit, park there and catch the Dodgers Express Bus into the stadium?
-'Or should we totally leave the car at the hotel and take the Metro Blue Line/transfer to the Red Line into Union Station/Patsaouras (to catch the Dodgers Express)?
Ease and not sitting in traffic make the Metro & Dodgers Express Bus sound good but I've been told the trip would take approx. 2 1/2 hours each way. That seems like a long time but would driving ourselves take just as long because of the traffic? Your advice would be appreciated!
We will be staying in the Richmond Discrict, 29th ave.. we will need to travel daily to and from the Marine Memorial Hotel...what is the best way for six ladies to travel back and forth?
We're thinking of spending a weekend in Ojai with our 2 small children (2.5 and 4 years respectively). Can anyone recommend any places/activities better suited for families? Let me know and thanks in advance for the help!
