Flight to San Fransisco

by RituPrasad Online Now Apr 30, 2012 at 5:33 PM

Hi from Sydney, I am going to Vancouver in July and would like to go to San Fransisco by plane. Please advise whether I should be flying from Vancouver or Belligham Airport? My family leaves close to the boarder so both airports are close. Could anyone please suggest me a good airline with reasonable fare? I prefer a non-stop flight. I have Australian passport and would like to know if i need a visa to go to USA. I will also be going to the other side of the boarder a lot with family to do shopping as they live very close to the boarder, do I need to get multiple visa for USA? Thanks in advance.

Australian travel to the US has been covered in other threads, but it's best to go to the source or, as we say in the US, the horse's mouth: smartraveller.gov.au/zw-cgi/... Flights from Vancouver into the US tend to be very expensive. Bellingham does not have many flights and also tends to be expensive. The cheapest airport would be Seattle and it would be worth your time to go down there if you're already relatively close to Bellingham. For example, I purchased a ticket a couple of months ago for Seattle to Oakland for79 base on Southwest. Realize that there are two airports that serve San Francisco: Oakland (OAK) and San Francisco (SFO). Additionally, there's San Jose (SJC) if you're going somewhere south of San Francisco, like Palo Alto or Fremont. All are connected to San Francisco by public transit, with SFO and OAK being roughly the same distance from Downtown San Francisco. Hope that helps.

Even with the name Bellingham International Airport, there are no international flights, only domestic to Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas, Honolulu, Palm Springs, Phoenix and San Francisco. Also with the lack of competition at BLI airfares are generally higher. The only airlines serving BLI is Alaska (AS) and Allegiant, and Alegiant charges for the air you breathe on their aircraft, they nickel and dime you so stay away from them. Also Frontier Airlines serves BLI with one flight to Denver, begining early summer.
