by topgunn Online Now Mar 17, 2008 at 7:02 PM

Hi, Plan to spend two days in Palm Springs mid May. Any suggestions on must do or see things while there for this short period of time. What about the best reasonably priced place to stay in the heart of the action? cheers Matt

There must be must particular reason why you're choosing to visit Palm Springs. Is it friends? Business? Family? Palm Springs has a lot to offer. Night Clubs for young adults, gays and senior citizens. The Indian casinos are nearby. Fantastic restaurants, plenty of shopping, lots and lots of golf courses. I'm sure every decent hotel and condo complex has swimming pools and perhaps tennis courts. Spas are a big deal in PS, too! Two days, you should be able to find something you would like to do!

A very pleasant way to spend a few hours is to go up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. You have great views of the valley and it is refreshingly cool up top. See my tip on my Palm Springs page for photos details, or go to www.pstramway.com.

The Indian canyons are spectacular - Tahquitz is my favorite. You get to walk along a river in the desert and end up at a 60 foot waterfall. It's feels like you're in a movie. 1000 Palms Oasis, a short drive away, is a beautiful desert oasis. Sherman's Deli is great. As another poster said, the tram is great.

I agree that the tramway is a spectacular way to view the valley from a rotating tram car up to the top. Bring a jacket as the temps can vary as much as 30 degrees from the valley floor to the top. The restaurant at the top has decent food as well. Hiking up there is also fun - bring your camera. My favorite thing to do is the Palm Springs Follies but May 17th is their last show for the season. This show is a wonderful compilation of ragtime music and a variety show in its 17th year. They have lavish costumes and production numbers like the old time Vegas shows. There is usually a comedian, a performing dog act, jugglers, and lots of singing and dancing. No show girl is under 50 years of age! I know - it sounds dumb, but you won't believe it until you see how great these gals look! It is a three hour extravaganza call 760-327-0225 or visit www.psfollies.com If you like old airplanes, the Palm Springs Air Museum near the airport is also a must see. www.air-museum.org
